Watch: Remembering Chris Cornell One Year Later

May 18, 2018

It's been one year since the passing of legendary frontman Chris Cornell - who committed suicide on May 18, 2017. That day was a heavy one, especially here at KROQ where his bands (Soundgarden, Audioslave, Temple Of The Dog) have had such an impact on the sound of this station - as well as a generation. Chris was part of the fabric of KROQ and we thank him for that.

There will be a vigil in Chris' memory tonight at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery beginning at 7pm. For those who cannot make the trip, you are encouraged to light a candle, say a prayer or speak his name.

Mental illness, addiction and PTSD are all very serious and they impact all of us, either directly or indirectly. It's okay to not be okay. We have all been through dark times. Asking for help doesn't mean you are weak. Asking for help means you are strong. If you or anyone you know is struggling with depression and/or thoughts of suicide, know that someone is always there. Additionally, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 1-800-273-8255.
