Jehnny Beth Discusses Her New Album 'To Love Is To Live' with Nicole Alvarez

June 24, 2020

You might know Jehnny Beth from Savages. If you are a film buff, you may know some of her films. Whether you know her or not, she is a force of nature, a force to be reckoned with, and she embodies all that might and explosiveness with grace and effortless charm.

Jehnny is someone who I would happily sit down with and talk for hours, because with her, it's not empty words, or forced dialogue, or even the usual mechanics of an "industry" chat with an up and coming artist, it is an opportunity to engage in the artistry of conversation with a self-aware, self-empowered, humble, curious, imaginative, fierce, and endlessly fascinating woman.

Jehnny speaks candidly and she is brave and edgy and there is mischief in her demeanor. She is a rock star but doesn't need to be, she just is.

I talked to her about her new album, 'To Love Is To Live" and every so often we laughed and we got profound. This record is haunting and it has a bite and if you love a deep dive into a world that is both sonically and lyrically intoxicating, then ladies and gentlemen, meet Jehnny Beth.
