Yungblud Talks About His New Track with Travis Barker and Machine Gun Kelly

June 25, 2019

Dominic Harrison, known by his stage name Yungblud, stopped by the KROQ studios to chat with Megan Holiday about the past 8 months, his track "11 Minutes" featuring Halsey and Travis Barker, and his latest track with Barker and Machine Gun Kelly titled "I Think I'm OKAY."

"I had a bit of a mental moment when we were filming that video. I was stood on his drum skin, and I was like 'I'm stood on Travis Barker's drum skin and security is not going to try and take me off it,'" laughs Yungblud.

"When we were writing it we were just like 'I just want to write a song that reflects 13-year old Dom crying his eyes out in his bedroom because everything's wrong.' The song is kind of crazy because the song is called 'I Think I'm OKAY' but the hook is 'I think something's wrong with me,' and that's what it's about. It's about saying that yes, it's okay that something's wrong with you if you feel like yourself. I'm saying something's wrong with me but I'm okay with that, and you figure that out, and you accept yourself for who you are. Because no one is perfect, embrace in those dark parts because ultimately those dark parts make up, simultaneously the good parts, the person you are. If people don't like you for that then they're not meant to be in your life. We just wrote it like that - it's just got a feeling, doesn't it?"

After his interview with Megan, we asked Yungblud to give us some "English to English" translations.
