Every Monday morning we bring you feel good stories to balance out all the bad news

February 3, 2020

Today on Kevin in the Morning with Allie & Jensen we have GREAT NEWS stories for you. We find news stories that make you feel good and restore your faith in humanity to balance out all the bad news you hear on the news.

This morning Kevin introduced us to a Nebraska middle school teacher named Trey Payne. He was heartbroken to discover that his favorite pair of Basketball shoes were stolen from his classroom. They were his Kevin Durant 12’s. His students got together in a large group chat and all donated money. Once they reached their goal they ordered the shoes. Weeks later Mr. Payne is still in shock about the grand gesture. The students say it’s not about the shoes but want MR. Payne to know that they love him and that they care about him. This was Kevin’s GREAT NEWS!!!

Filling in for Allie today, Megan Holiday brought our attention to Scout, a dog at the center of a Super Bowl Commercial. Scout’s owner, David MacNeil refused to accept the one-month prognosis. He took scout for treatment at the University of Wisconsin at Madison School of Veterinary Medicine. On this past Sunday, MacNeil thanked the school by running a $6 Million Super Bowl advertisement. It was a 30-second spot that encouraged people to donate to the Veterinary school’s research. The Veterinary School gave Scout Chemo and radiation therapy and they were able to save Scout. This was Megan’s GREAT NEWS!!!

Jensen told us about Shaquille O’Neal and the recent deaths that have taken a toll on him. Last year in October, his sister Ayesha Harrison-Rex. Passed away from cancer that she had been battling for a few years, at 40. Then, as we all know his former teammate Kobe Bryant along with 8 other individuals passed away in a terrible helicopter crash. Despite their infamously hot and cold relationship, they will always be connected, especially after their famous burying the hatchet interview. No one would blame the player once nicknamed Superman for getting emotional considering the two tragic events that rocked his world. Last week Patrick Martin was at a Best Buy in McDonough, GA shopping for a laptop when he spotted O’Neal standing around. Martin approached O’Neal to offer his condolences for his sister and Kobe Bryant. Shaq was thankful for his kind words and they all went their separate ways. Shaq showed up a little later and asked Martin what he was buying? Martin replied that he was getting a laptop for his family. Shaq told him that he appreciated him and to go pick out the most expensive laptop because he was going to buy it for them. This has kind of become Shaq’s thing. He’s been known to spread his privilege. He knows he’s lucky to have been Shaquille O’Neal and have his talents. This was Jensen’s GREAT NEWS!!!
