Twenty One Pilots On Playing KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas, MCR Reunion

November 4, 2019

After playing two huge SoCal shows this weekend, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun of Twenty One Pilots stopped by the Kevin & Bean show to talk about their unique stage show, reimagining their songs in new styles, and playing Night Two of the KROQ Absolut Almost Acoustic Christmas.

"If you think about it, even though we're playing a song like 'The Hype' every day, the process of us writing and recording the song happened a year ago," Joseph said when talking about their Location Sessions reimaginings of their songs, "It's far enough in the past that reapproaching it in a different way felt fresh and very natural."

When asked about last week's surprise reunion announcements from My Chemical Romance and Rage Against the Machine, the band acknowledged the excitement, with Joseph saying "both of those bands have been influences on us for sure."

"I hope they pull it off," Joseph said, with Dun elaborating, "If you go away, hopefully on a good note and you're missed, you don't want to come back and ruin it or make it underwhelming."

Twenty One Pilots will be playing Night Two of KROQ's Absolut Almost Christmas with Mumford & Sons, The 1975, The Raconteurs and more! Check out the full lineup for both nights and get all the details here
