Shavo Odadjian Talks System of a Down, Marijuana, and More on Kevin & Bean

Expecting a new SOAD album soon? "If it was my way, it'd be now. But it takes four to tango."

System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian stopped by The Kevin & Bean Show to talk about the band, his new marijuana company 22Red, and more.

Kevin inquired as to whether fans could expect a new System of a Down album in the next 5-10 years. "If it was my way, it'd be now. But it takes four to tango," says Odadjian. "We have so much material. We've had material for the past 10-12 years. We all write. I personally have a lot. Daron has a lot. I know Serj has a lot. But I don't know if we're going to be doing it together. I don't know what's going on. I'm hoping, I'm wishing. We still love each other, no one has done anything wrong."

"It's hurtful because I really do want to play, and I want to make music, and I want to make a record. I didn't join a band and didn't get famous to stop playing music," continues Odadjian.

Shavo also dropped by to talk about his new company 22Red, his new marijuana and apparel venture. "It's not just a weed strain, it's a lifestyle brand. I have clothing," says Odadjian. "From the material to the cut, to the style, it's the way I dress."

"I feel the way I felt 22 years ago when I was 22, when System of a Down started, and I was managing, going to school, working at the bank, doing it all in one day and starting again the next day. I was a grinder, and I'm grinding again because I feel so - it's a part of me."

System of a Down will be performing this Saturday at the Glen Helen Amphitheatre with Incubus, At The Drive-In, Clutch, Pallbearer, and Skeletonwitch. A limited amount of tickets may still be available here.
