Watch Mumford & Sons Perform "Guiding Light" in the KROQ Kitchen

The band stopped by The Kevin & Bean Show to talk about their forthcoming album

Mumford & Sons stopped by The Kevin & Bean Show to talk about their forthcoming album Delta and upcoming tour, then mozied down the hall for a 3-song acoustic performance in the "janky" KROQ kitchen.

The band's new album Delta will be released November 16th, and they're currently on a "whirlwind" press tour the past few days talking about it.

"I'm not sure we've ever felt as united in our confidence, but we bloody love this album. We think it's the best we've done," says frontman Marcus Mumford. "It sounds sort of cocky to say that, but that's not saying much," he laughs. Allie MacKay chimed in asking whether or not the album had been finished yet, as recent interviews have said otherwise. "It wasn't finished, but now it is finished."

"It was a bit of a party. For me, it was a party album, but I don't know if we all have the same experience," says guitarist Winston Marshall. "Paul [Epworth] creates an atmosphere in his studio, the Church, where it is a hang and we've never recorded like that before. It was as much about people as it was about music," adds Mumford. "When you have people in, you just listen to things differently. It affects the atmosphere of the record. You listen to it through their ears."

Kevin asked how many songs the band recorded for this album. "It'd be really efficient to just do twelve, but we did thirty-four. But that was whittled down from more I think," says Mumford.

After the interview, the band walked over to the KROQ kitchen for an intimate 3-song acoustic performance, including their new single "Guiding Light."
