Every Monday morning we bring you feel good stories to balance out all the bad news

May 6, 2019

Today on Kevin & Bean we have GREAT NEWS stories for you. We find news stories that make you feel good and restore your faith in humanity to balance out all the bad news you hear on the news.

This morning Kevin introduced us to Shane Burcaw and his Instagram account. Burcaw suffers from extreme muscular dystrophy. He and his girlfriend of three years, Hanna use his Instagram account as well as their YouTube channel to spread positivity. Hannah has been his girlfriend for three years and everyone mistakes her for his nurse. On their Social Media, they give each other so much grief. They make fun of each other and make each other laugh. Despite Burcaw’s disability he and his girlfriend are able to see past that and make the most of his days. They’re thoughtful, honest, and most of all funny. It’s an inspiring and positive account, so give them a follow. This was Kevin’s Great News!!!

Looooong day of appointments, but it went well! Now we are celebrating (and eating for the first time today) at our favorite Mexican place. Look out for a video about our day tomorrow, and lastly, THANK YOU SO MUCH for all the kind messages about picking up and reading my book that debuted today! Your messages have filled me with joy.

Filling in for Allie Mac Kay is Megan Holiday and she brought our attention to Oklahoma City Police Officer Nate Ross. Last month he responded to a noise complaint and when he arrived he found a man on the side of the road playing drums. Officer Ross asked the man to stand up, then he sat behind the drum set and proceeded to shred on the drums. The whole thing was caught on video. What a lot of people didn’t know is that Office Ross used to play the drums and he decided to show off some of his skills. Officer Ross was happy to interact with the community he serves. He got some hugs and handshakes, they turned it down and he left. This was Megan’s Great NEWS!!! Click here to read the whole story.

Today Dave “The King of Mexico,” told us about the St. Louis Cardinals celebration of their 2019 Transplant Awareness Day. Savannah Roesch, Katie Seper and Brenden Bulger all attended the game to honor their late brother, Donovan Bulger. The group wore custom-made lime green shirts that read “Brother, Organ Donor & HERO!” with a portrait of Donovan on the front. The bright shirts caught the eye of the family whose life was changed by Donavan’s good deed. To their surprise, the group was Donavan’s heart recipient and his family. They recognized Donavan’s face on their t-shirts from the photos she had sent. After spending time getting to know the family, the recipient Sueme offered to let the siblings listen to Donovan’s heart in his chest. This was Dave’s GREAT NEWS!!!
