Today on Kevin & Bean we have GREAT NEWS stories for you. We find news stories that make you feel good and restore your faith in humanity to balance out all the bad news you hear on the news.

This morning Kevin introduced us to 8-year-old Jackson Champagne. He was trick-or-treating with his family when they came across a house that had an empty candy bowl. So, he reached into his bag and put candy from his bag into the candy bowl, twice. What Jackson didn’t know was that the whole thing was caught on camera by the homeowners. A firefighter Kevin Hodges, who was working saw it in real-time and sent a clip of it to his wife Leslie Hodges, who was out taking their kids out trick-or-treating. She felt compelled to share it with the world. Jackson’s parents couldn’t be prouder to see their son do such a good deed, that and he was getting rid of all his Candy Corn, are we right? This was Kevin’s GREAT NEWS!!!

Allie brought our attention to Camden Beck who on picture day he and his mother couldn’t agree on a shirt to wear. He ended up wearing a Hotdog costume to school. His mom thought he would eventually take it off, but he didn’t. Camden took his school picture wearing the Hotdog costume. The next year Camden got an avocado costume for his birthday and then decided to wear it to school for picture day. His last two school photos are unique and they show his personality. A kid that can wear a costume for his school photos and can be comfortable and fun in a costume, is pretty rad. This was Allie’s GREAT NEWS!!!

Bean told us about Chastity Patterson who in lost her father Jason Lignon in 2015. They were very close and he was a perfect father figure for her. After he died she continued to text him every single day. Throughout her four years of college, she would send him messages about her life, telling him about her challenges and her troubles. On the eve of the 4th anniversary of his death, she felt ready to let go. She texted him one last time recapping everything he had missed and told him that she would always love him and always miss him. What happened next was, she got a text back from a man who lost his daughter in 2014. It said: “Hi sweetheart, I am not your father, but I have been getting all your messages for the past 4 years. I look forward to your morning messages and nightly updates. My name is Brad and I lost my daughter in a car wreck August 2014 and your messages have kept me alive. When you text me, I know it’s a message from God. I’m sorry you lost someone so close to you, but I have listened to you over the years and I have watched you grow—and go through more than anyone,” it continued. “I have wanted to text you back for years, but I didn’t want to break your heart. You are an extraordinary woman and I wish my daughter would have become the woman you are. I’m sorry you have to go through this but if it makes it any better, I am very proud of you!” Chastity was in awe of the response—and shared it on Facebook hoping that other grieving people might find peace from the serendipitous message reassuring her that everything was going to be alright. Imagine her surprise to say good by after four years and then to have something come back through on the text. This was Bean’s GREAT NEWS!!!
