This morning Allie told us about a young girl named Mia Cuevas who is shaving her head to help raise awareness and money for St. Baldrick’s Foundation. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is an organization that helps children with cancer. Mia has set a goal of raising $3,000.00 for cancer research and will be shaving her head to show her support and commitment to this cause. She is also hosting an event on March 14th at Matt Denny’s in Arcadia. Mia also posted a video on YouTube to share her thoughts and feelings about her fundraiser. She also plans on donating her hair to Locks of Love who make wigs to help children who are fighting cancer. This was Allie’s GREAT NEWS!!!

This morning Jensen brought us a feel-good story about Billy By and his viral tweet that helped his Dad’s new Texas donut shop. Billy By Tweeted some heart-wrenching photos of the Grand Opening of his Dad’s new donut shop. The donut shop is called Billy’s Donuts and it’s named after the tweeting son. The pictures included his dad standing alone in the fully stocked donut shop and a picture of an empty parking lot. Billy added insult to injury when he included the crying face emoji to the caption that read, “My dad is sad cause no one is coming to his new donut shop.” The tweet went viral and the city showed up to support the shop owners and sold the shop out completely. Jensen loved this story, “This is more proof that the internet & social media isn’t just for trolls with private pages. Sometimes it’s helpful and supportive of things like local businesses and adorable fathers!” This was Jensen’s Great News!!!

Today Bean told us about a friendship that warmed our hearts. He introduced us to Tanner Wilson and Brandon Qualls. Brandon is in a wheelchair and he and Tanner are friends who bonded over their love of cars. Brandon had a manual wheelchair that he would use to get around in. The problem was that he would become extremely tired using it throughout the day. His friend Tanner decided he wanted to help his friend Brandon. So Tanner decided to save up his own money from his part-time job at a mechanics shop and buy his best friend a motorized wheelchair. So that’s what he did. On February 26th Tanner brought it to school and they surprised Brandon with it in front of his classmates. A teacher even painted flames on the wheel chair and customized it with his last name on the headrest. Brandon was so happy, he had always wanted a motorized wheelchair and called it "a dream come true". Tanner said it was “100 percent” worth it when he saw the smile on his face and added, "There are many people out here that have troubles and need a little bit of help.” This was Bean’s GREAT NEWS!!!
