KROQ To The Rescue: Alan Wilkis from Big Data & His Dog Tony

August 27, 2018

KROQ To The Rescue is our new program, hosted by Kat Corbett, where we highlight different animal rescues around Southern California and hopefully help some of these animals find forever homes.

In episode 8, Kat Corbett chats with Alan Wilkis from the band Big Data about new music and his rescue dog Tony.

Big Data's forthcoming album is due out at the top of 2019 and is all about artificial intelligence. "While I was writing the new record, I read a lot of books about AI and different perspectives on where we might go as a species in the next couple of decades. There are some really crazy possibilities," says Wilkis.

The topic changed to Tony, Alan's rescue dog that he found on Petfinder. "It's like Tinder for finding rescue animals," he says of the app.

Tony is Alan's first dog, so Kat asked if getting an animal has changed his daily routine. "It's not a huge change, and honestly the happiness that having a dog brings just dwarfs it," he says. "The feeling of coming home and he's just super fired up to see you... it's very hard to beat that."
