Get Up On This With Jensen Karp: Bar Wrestling Presents Three’s Company

Every Thursday morning Jensen Karp gets us up on something new

February 14, 2019

Every Thursday morning Jensen Karp brings our attention to something that we may not know about yet or something we may have overlooked in the past.

Now it's time to "Get Up On This."

This week Jensen got us up on a local wrestling event that he believes should not only have a full house, but should have a line around the block to get in. Jensen again had a very special in-studio guest, Wrestler Joey Ryan

Joey Ryan gave us the backstory of how Bar Wrestling came to be. He wrestles quite frequently in Japan and he once took part in a show called Tavern Wrestling. The theme was cheap tickets and cheap drinks. It was like a party with a wrestling ring and matches. It was the show where he had the most fun in Japan. The Japanese audience was drunk and it was a big party and he thought to himself, “I need to stand on the shoulders of giants and steal this idea and bring it to America”. He found a venue in Baldwin Park that held wrestling matches before and they were cool with it and they wanted to do it.

Bar Wrestling is different from the wrestling that we see from WWE on Monday Nights in that there are no story lines. It’s like a party where you’re at with your friends and there also happens to be wrestling going on. There’s no barricades so everyone is all the way up to the ring. You don’t have to process a story line between characters. If you miss a show it’s not the end of world, you can go to another show. It is for casual fans where you can hang out with your friends and have a drink or ten and enjoy.

The rules are… There are no rules. The referees are there, but it is merely to count to three at the end of the match. But it is all in good fun. Nobody is bleeding, no one is dying or breaking limbs. It’s not backyard wrestling.

Part of the fun is that you never know who will show up. In a Christmas Theme show Macaulay Culkin showed up and Joey Ryan asked if he wanted to participate. Macaulay Culkin is a huge wrestling fan and he was more than happy to do Home Alone pranks and reprise his character Kevin Mccallister.

Joey Ryan has the world’s strongest penis and his signature move was developed in Japan. So if somebody were to grab his junk, they would get flipped in the air. There is a magnetic pull where they cannot let go of his penis and he is able to use it as a weapon. The video of his move went viral and he was able to turn it into a sponsorship deal from

The crowds are bonkers and it’s one of the most engaged crowds Jensen has ever seen because everyone is having a good time. It’s almost like a comedy show. Three’s Company is a Two night event: February 20th at the Bootleg Theater in Los Angeles and February 21st at the American Legion Post 241 in Baldwin Park.
