Guide to DTLA Wineries & Wine Bars

Over the past few years craft breweries and tasting rooms have been popping up all over Downtown LA, from the Arts District to Olive and Olympic.  With everyone, including me, ecstatic about the craft beer we’ve overlooked the wonderful wineries that have sprouted almost simultaneously in the same areas.  The Arts District, for example, is home to Arts District Brewing, Angel City and Boomtown Brewery but did you know it’s also home to Pali Wines and Pour Haus Wine Bar.  If you’re a wine connoisseur and frequent these places, then pardon the fact that I have been living under a rock.  I’m sure there are plenty of people who are just as shocked by this as I was.  Anyway, for those of you who enjoy a classy night out or looking for Valentine’s Day plans, check out these awesome DTLA wineries and wine bars.

San Antonio Winery

To kick this off, I have to start this list with the OGs of the LA based wineries, San Antonio Winery, home to Stella Rosa.  San Antonio claims to be the oldest and only producing winery in the city.  Located on the east side of the LA River across from Los Angeles State Historic Park, the winery transports you to another place. At San Antonio you can drink wines from their estate vineyards, something you can’t do at other wineries here in the city making this experience truly unique.

Pali Wine Co.

Pali Wines Co. showcases a premium selection of Pinot Noirs and Chardonnay made under the Pali Label.  With locations in Lompoc, Santa Barbara, Anaheim, San Diego and now DTLA’s Arts District you’re closer than ever to experiencing their award-winning wines from California’s Central Coast.  You can skip that trip to Lompoc and take the Metro downtown to try their small batches of artisanal Pinot Noir.

Guess who’s open? That’s right, we are! Stop by and enjoy our freshest tap wines straight from the barrel ----Our Friday hours are 2pm-12am. #artdistrict #artsdistrictla #paliwineco #dtla

Pour Haus Wine Bar

Being the craft beer guy that I am, I truly appreciate a place like Pour Haus.  Although I love going to specific breweries, I absolutely love going to bars that showcase the best craft beers in the region, and that is what Pour Haus is to wine.  Located in the Arts District, Pour Haus brings us a wide variety of wine from across the world.  The wine tenders are well versed and knowledgeable about all things wine.  Just like I’d want a beer server to know what they’re serving me, that obviously is super important when it comes to wine.

Summer Lover! A Corsican, French owned & Italian made. Crisp fresh cut apple on the nose. Touch of melon and pomegranate characters, beautiful long finish. Mignon

Described to me as “a hole in the wall,” that detail although true did this place absolutely no justice.  Mignon does a better job of defining themselves, their website claims they’re “a cozy food and wine bar in the Historic Core of Downtown LA that serves as an oasis for travelers and locals who are weary of the ubiquitous bar experience.”  Like I said, way better.  Mignon specializes in international small production, natural wines with an emphasis on the Old World.  The idea of this place in the middle of DTLA still boggles my mind.  Their emphasis on the Old World doesn’t stop at the wine, it also carries over in the food they offer, serving seasonal, rustic French cuisine and fine artisanal cheeses and charcuterie.
