Matt Skiba just might be the hardest working man in rock.

After taking over for Tom DeLonge in blink-182, Skiba’s own band, Alkaline Trio, are set to return with a new album and tour this year.

The album, Is This Thing Cursed?, is set to debut on August 31, with the vinyl version slated to drop on Oct. 19. According to the band, the release will serve as “a cousin or sibling” to Alkaline Trio’s 2000 full-length, Maybe I’ll Catch Fire. The first song to be revealed from the album is "Blackbird," which you can hear below.

“The songwriting process is almost like what it was back in the day. We would just kind of write a song, be excited about it, then move on,” explained co-lead vocalist and bassist Dan Andriano in a press statement. “We wrote in that spirit in the studio. I really feel like we made a record that the old school fans are going to dig.”

A tour in support of the new album kicks off August 3 in Dallas, TX, with shows scheduled through August 26, wrapping up August 26 in Orlando, FL.

“Some people thought we were done. We announced a tour and a lot of the shows are already sold out,” Matt Skiba said. “Nobody knows that we made a new record. It's not unlike getting somebody that you care about something extra super special for their birthday and you're really excited to give it to them. It feels kind of like that.”

The second leg of the tour restarts on October 4 in Santa Ana, CA and rolls through October 18 with a show in Santa Cruz, CA. All shows feature together PANGEA as the opening act.
