According to MTV who reached out to Tim Burton’s people about the rumors below, Mr. Burton is not confirmed to be working on the new Addams Family movie.

“There is no truth to the story. Tim has not lined up any of his upcoming projects.”

Gather ’round children, Father Burton is reimagining yet another dark and kooky concept for a beloved classic of a book/movie/cartoon/everything that was already original at one point or another.

But this isn’t a Burton-bashing blog, it’s a celebration of a new franchise he will create for Hot Topic chickies to drool over all over again. This time, it’s The Addams Family, and it’s everything you could expect from Tim.

The new film will probably have Johnny Depp. It will probably feature a new score by Danny Elfman. Helena Bonham Carter will probably guest star. It’ll probably have some 3-D thrown in there.

More importantly, he’s returning to his signature stop-motion medium to tell the story of our favorite creepy family. This time, the characters will be inspired by the original Charles Addams comic strip as an homage to the late New Yorker cartoonist who first created them, so don’t expect a Christina Ricci-looking Wednesday.

With the recent release of Tim Burton’s movie, Alice in Wonderland, fans of his will enjoy Neon Trees‘ remake of “Animal.”

In Neon Trees’ new video, “Animal” they channeled a scene from Tim Burton’s movie, Batman, in which the foursome take part in an art museum rampage. When the band was asked what the meaning was behind “Animal” they answered, “I’m a masochist in love, and somehow am shocked when there is no pain. I am not very nice to myself when I’m in a relationship. I also observe a lot of my friends when they are starting out they all seem like predators or animals, and so I took all these dark elements and put them in a pop song.”

And what’s up with making a new video when the first one was just as great? Doesn’t the saying go: If it ain’t broke don’t fix it? Well, the Neon Trees had this to say, “The original was always meant to be a viral video. Something that had the feel of a documentary/in-the-moment vibe. Something that is quite important to us as a band is art and aesthetic and we wanted to make something visually rad for the official vid. I think people will love it and it will have more of the vibe of what are live is, a little more visceral, a little more artistic, but still quite tongue and cheek.”

“Animal” is the first single off Neon Trees’ album Habits, which hits stores March 16th. After the release, Neon Trees plan to hit the road as a supporting act to 30 Seconds to Mars‘ “Into the Wild” tour in April and May.

Johnny Depp is known to use music to get into character. Jack Sparrow was inspired by Keith Richards, his Willy Wonka was inspired by Marilyn Manson and so on and so forth.

The band that helped him create The Mad Hatter sounds like what goes on in the mind of someone on shrooms.

I have had a life long obsession with The Mad Hatter. He could easily be my soul mate, so of course I’m curious to know where Johnny Depp drew his inspiration from. As it turns out, Terry Gilliam, who directed Johnny in “Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas“, recommended a band to him called Sunset Rubdown. After investing himself in the music of this Canadian indie band, Johnny Depp’s version of The Mad Hatter was born.

Johnny Depp appeared on CBS news’ Early Show and shed some light on his contributions to Alice In Wonderland, as well as the influence of Sunset Rubdown.

Johnny as the Mad Hatter takes the cover of this week’s Entertainment Weekly magazine. Some excerpts:

“Alice marks Depp’s first foray into the brave new world of 3-D filmmaking, but the actor (who admits he still hasn’t seen Avatar) says he won’t be able to fully appreciate that extra dimension. ‘I’m actually unable to see 3-D,’ he says. ‘I’ve got a weird thing where I don’t see properly out of my left eye, so I truly can’t see 3-D.’ Then again, he never likes watching himself onscreen anyway. ‘So I have an excuse this time, he says, laughing.”

“EW: Johnny, what’s the scariest thing Tim ever asked you to do in a movie?
Depp: Singing in Sweeney Todd.
Burton: No question about it.
Depp: The thing is, I dumbly thought that once I’d gotten through singing the demos and going though the recording process in the studio, I was home free. I thought I’d get on the set and just lip-synch. I didn’t realize that you’ve got to sing it live on the set. Me and Helena (Bonham Carter) were, like belting it out with the whole crew watching. It was just mortifying.”

“Everyone in this town wanted to play Edward Scissorhands – including Michael jackson. I’d had a great meeting with Tim and left zipping on coffee and chewing on a spoon.”
