If the rumors are true, the Foo Fighters are doing what could be their last “secret show” tonight. If you’ve missed out on the last few, or you aren’t aware of what I’m talking about, Dave and the Foos have been quietly hitting up various clubs in Los Angeles over the past month and debuting their new album live, in its entirety.

Sounds amazing, right? It is. But let me make sure you’re clear on what else it is. Make no mistake: the Foo Fighters are an iconic arena rock band with a massive following and a catalogue of hits that can make almost any band weep. When you take that and shrink it down into The Roxy, there’s a whole new set of rules.

Here’s the seven nine things I think you should know about tonight’s rumored Foo Fighters secret show:

1. It Is Very, Very Hot.

So far these shows have been at The Dragonfly, The Roxy and Spaceland (not including the Santa Barbara show.) Those rooms have one thing in common: they’re very small. It gets hot. The size of the room and the apparent weakness of the air conditioning combine with the energy Dave commands from a crowd and raises the temperature to about a billion degrees. 2. It Is Very Long.

They aren’t screwing around up there, man. You’ll get your $20 worth and much, much more when the Foo Fighters take the stage and don’t come back off of it for nearly three hours. Wear comfortable shoes, hydrate and pace yourself — y’know, drinking-wise.

3. They Play Some Serious Hits.

Every show has opened with Dave asking the crowd a simple question: “you guys wanna hear the new record?” (No need to answer — they’ll play it no matter what.) But once they do, they quickly move into a giant pile of hits that’s just as long as the new album.

4. You’re Going To Die In That Mosh Pit, Bro.

The crowd stays pretty docile for the bulk of the new album, because they’re fans and they genuinely want to hear it. And trust me, it’s fantastic. It’s completely worth hearing. In fact, at the Spaceland show, I wanted to be as close as possible during the new album. I was basically front and center. And when Dave plucked the first chords of All My Life, the entire floor broke into a giant, teeming mass of mosh — one of the most crazed, energetic mosh pits I’ve seen in a long time.

5. It’s Pretty Unique — Pocket Your Phone And Enjoy It.

If you lived in Omaha, you wouldn’t get to see this. Enjoy every moment. It’s already been bootlegged to YouTube three times over. There’s going to be a zillion photos (including a gallery right here at KROQ.com.) Tweet that you’re there, check in on Facebook if you must, put your phone in your pocket and rock the f*ck out.

6. You Might See Celebrities. Don’t Freak Out.

Ron Jeremy has been spotted at every one of these things. Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale were at the Spaceland show, as was McLovin’ from Superbad. Be respectful — they love the Foo as much as you do.

7. Buy A Shirt.

If your wallet has a deathly fear of merch booths, allow me to assuage those fears. T-shirts are $10. Yes, ten bucks. Prepare to buy two though, because they’ve got both a White Limo shirt and an “Arlandria Is For Lovers” design. Whichever you buy, you’ll regret not getting the other.

8. It Is VERY LOUD.

It took two days for my hearing to come back after I did Roxy and Spaceland back-to-back. Bring earplugs.

9. Don’t Go Crazy Using Your Smartphone In The Ticket Line.

Unless you’ve got time to charge it between buying your ticket and attending the show, if you go nuts texting and Tweeting and Facebooking while you’re waiting to buy your tickets, you will kill your battery and won’t be able to use it after the show.

So, I am at this very moment, DRUNK AS HELL. It has been a hot minute since I have drunk any sort of alcoholic beverages. In fact, too long it has been, as Yoda would say. However, I am not drunk enough to disregard the events that transpired in the last 7 hours.

I just saw the effing Foo Fighters perform their entire new album at The Roxy on a Monday, a day that has a very bad reputation and yet has done me so right, in so may many ways. Dear Monday February 7th, you were orgasmic. In fact, you make a person wanna drop a stomach pancake.

It was a night that I never saw coming. I never expected. I wasn’t planning on seeing the Foo’s tonight, but somehow, the universe saw it fit to bless me with an opportunity. Life handed me rock and roll on a silver platter and it had EVERYTHING to do with the Foo Fighters.

I have had a pretty craptastic last few weeks. The fact the I didn’t jump off of a high building is a miracle. In fact, the fact that I am even capable of mustering up enough emotion and strength to write a blog is unbelievable. I thought I was drained of every and all motivation.

These last few weeks have made me question whether or not God hates me.

Apparently, he doesn’t.

I get to work today in a very bad mood. My Pittsburgh Steelers forgot to show up to the Super Bowl. Yea, THAT happened. I spent my entire day wanting nothing more than for everyone I came in contact with to suck it. Suck it hard.

Then I get a phone call that would essentially alter the course of my evening and in turn, this wretched month.

Dr. Lisa called me and to make a long story short, offered me an invite to see the Foo Fighters at The Roxy at one of their pop up “secret” shows. Hell yes.

So I get off of the air on KROQ and haul some serious ass to The Roxy. I made it just in time to watch The Foo Fighters take the stage in what was an electrifying evening of music and bad assery. (Bad assery is only a term in my universe).

The Foo freakin’ Fighters played the entire new album for us and it is everything you want it to be and then some. These were the type of songs that you classify under “blood sweat and tears”. The type of songs that are so raw and honest, that although you have never heard them before, you can sing word for word because you can anticipate  their every emotion and intention. The kind of songs with the kind of lyrics that you want tattooed on your body. The kind of songs that speak on your behalf.

After the Foo Fighters performed the entire new album, the night had just begun. The hits were next.

We sang and we sang our guts out.

I was inside of The Roxy, a legendary venue on the Sunset Strip, and tonight, it surpassed legendary and became iconic.

The Foo Fighters and everyone inside of The Roxy tonight rocked to the beat of the pulse of life and for one moment, we all understood and lived the lyrics “it’s times like these we learn to live again”.

F*CK YOU FourSquare! I just became the mayor of my life!

I posted the set list and some videos of this magic night for you to enjoy.

Its almost Halloween, and for a lot of people that means candy, costumes, and parties. However, there’s a group of people in West Hollywood looking to break the world record for people doing the Time Warp from Rocky Horror. Want to be a part of it? Well, it turns out that the Roxy Theatre needs help with the event and they could use some volunteers.

Oh, I forgot to tell you, the current record is 1,635 dancers set last year in England.

They’re signing up 125 volunteers to help collect names, emails, hand out wristbands, and to supervise and coordinate the people breaking the Guinness World Record for doing the Time Warp. Volunteers must be available 6-11pm this Sunday, October 31, 2010 and be able to get to West Hollywood, CA for the Halloween Carnaval.

Here’s how your night as a volunteer will go:

• Volunteers will meet at The Roxy Theatre at 6pm. They will be given wristbands and a form to be filled in by the Time Warpers that includes their name, email, and signature.

• Volunteers are responsible for collecting at least 75 names and giving out wristbands accordingly.

• 20 volunteers will be given colored flags to gather Time Warpers.

• 5 volunteers per flag are needed to supervise and verify that people are dancing the Time Warp for the entire song.

• Names will be gathered throughout the night from 7-10pm.

Volunteers will be given a sweet Sunset Strip package with goodies from their favorite Sunset Spots.

Slash performed a last minute midnight show at the Roxy on Friday night. He played tracks off his new album, Guns N’ Roses, and Velvet Revolver in preparation for touring at the end of May and early June.

Austin, Texas has everything you need to have a good time.  Music, beer, BBQ and over 80 stages will be rocking it for five days for the annual SXSW Music Festival when it kicks off tomorrow. I’m heading down there to cover the madness so check KROQ.com for updates, rock shots, shots of BBQ, shots of beer and shots of shots.

During the festival downtown Austin closes it’s major roads to cars…

…so that drunk music fans and industry folks can walk the streets checking out band after band after band without getting run over.

KROQ and The Roxy have an awesome showcase of bands from Los Angeles performing at Rusty Spurs Saloon on Thursday night.

I’ll be rocking it with Tom Morello and Boots Riley when Street Sweeper Social Club hits the stage.  Justin and Adam from She Wants Revenge will be there plus great bands I play on KROQ Locals Only like Crash Kings, Carney and Saint Motel.

You never know who will be a break out band after SXSW. Last year, I caught The Temper Trap and Passion Pit before they blew up. Check out my video recap from last years SXSW.

Seeing Travis Barker and A-Trak at The Roxy was by far the coolest thing I have seen all year, and I see a lot of cool shit on a daily basis. It blew my mind. For one thing, the energy in that room was gasmic, meaning it could easily evoke a “gasm” of some sort. The attitude in the room overall was, “f*ck it! we’re gonna have a gooooood time tonight!”.

It felt crazy good walking into The Roxy that night. Crazy good.

I am a latin girl so I was born with rhythmic bones that can shake and shimmy with the best of them , but at the Travis and A-Trak show, I busted out moves I didn’t even know I had. I was dancing from the second I walked in there and hell! I’m dancing now just sitting here writing about it. Throw in Kid Cudi and Lil’ Jon and we had ourselves a house party.

It is worth mentioning that I was rocking out next to a herd of “fist bumpers” that were shipped to the Sunset Strip straight from the Jersey Shore. They were a bonus. Also a bonus….

That was one hell of a party.

If you were driving by The Roxy and noticed a line of people dressed up as zombies, chances are you were one of the many cars snarled up, trying to see what was going on.

Last Saturday there wasn’t a big budget movie being filmed or some silly attempt to break the dance record to MJ’s “Thriller”. It was in fact Los Angeles’ indie-pop group Saint Motel having their 2nd Annual Zombie Prom!

KROQ Locals Only presented Saint Motel’s Zombie Prom at The Roxy to a sold out crowd of undead fans complete with fake blood and torn prom attire. Long lines formed early down the Sunset Strip to see Links, Young The Giant (formerly The Jakes), Chasing Kings and of course, Saint Motel.
