Our friends in Chicago captured the above photo of electronic/dance music guru Deadmau5 (far right) with Foo Fighters frontman and all-around rock ‘n’ roll good guy Dave Grohl (center) backstage at Lollapalooza this afternoon.

Bonnaroo Day Two: Arcade Fire, Lil Wayne, & Moreview gallery

Day two of Bonnaroo heated things up with a diverse lineup of groups that span across genres and decades. The second day of the four-day fest will be remembered as a dust fest. The dry weather and extreme heat with the addition of 90,000 people, kicked up thick layers of dust on vehicles and tents. Many could be seen doing everything to protect their lungs by rocking a T-shirt or bandanna over their mouths. However, most of the 90,000 were not going to let the dust get the best of their Bonnaroo experience.

While concert-goers were crowding into whatever shade they could find, Bela Fleck and the original Flecktones played their chilled bluegrass as if they haven’t missed a beat.

New York duo Matt & Kim brought a fierce bite to their cute take on indie-rock. Matt & Kim took the stage to Jay-Z’s “New York State of Mind” before opening with “Block After Block,”and continuing their set with songs like “Silver Tiles,” “Good Ol Fashion Nightmare” (with a “Jump On It” breakdown), and “Cameras.” The group even thanked the crowd for taking their Bonnaroo ‘virginity.’

The first lady of rockabilly, Wanda Jackson, brought fans of all ages to her rock/country set. While she played some of here classics she also played some songs off her new record The Party Ain’t Over that was produced by Jack White. The onetime White Stripes front man, who was present at the festival yesterday to watch his recently divorced wife Karen Elson perform, helped lend an indie-rock twist to Jackson’s honky-tonk vibe.

During the same time-slot, Florence + The Machine played to an immensely overcrowded This Tent, while NOFX played at That Tent. English indie-pop singer Florence had crowds grooving to her soulful tunes (see photos from Florence’s performance), while on the other side of the festival people crowd-surfed to the L.A. punk band’s fast beats and anti-government lyrics.

My Morning Jacket brought triumphant horns and primal yells from a Mukluk-clad Jim James. MMJ performed both older songs and tunes from their latest release Circuital. The Louisville natives opened their set with “Victory Dance” before spiraling through “Circuital,” “Off the Record,” “Black Metal,” and “One Big Holiday.”

On the Which Stage, Les Claypool of Primus appeared with his signature inflatable astronauts and lightning-fast slap-bass.

Rock On The Range, America’s only music festival dedicated exclusively to hard rock, celebrated its fifth year this weekend in Columbus, Ohio. with an all-star line-up of today’s best hard rock bands including Avenged Sevenfold, A Perfect Circle, Korn, Danzig, Hollywood Undead, and many more.

You could feel the excitement of the ‘Rangers’ filing down the mile-long line of cars leading into the Columbus Crew stadium in Ohio’s capital city.

Young and old, punk-rockers and hardcore fanatics, bros and nerds alike were enjoying bands on the FYE stage such as My Darkest Days, Escape The Fate and Danzig, who busted out his classic “Mother.”

The other side of the stadium was where one could find the Jagermeister stage, which held acts like 2 Cents, Black Veil Brides and P.O.D.. Sonny Sandoval and crew put together a fan-friendly set that included  their hits “Youth Of A Nation” and “Alive”.

The only thing hotter than the 80 degrees weather Saturday was the hot licks from bands like Hinder, Alter Bridge and Staind were dishing out to crowds on the Monster main stage. Staind put together a setlist heavy of their major successes including “It’s Been Awhile” and “For You”.

Once Korn took the main stage at 8:30pm, fans were filtering into the main bowl from the other two stages that were closed up for the night. The band hailing from Bakersfield, California pumped out all  the songs that earned them two career Grammy awards including “Twisted Transistor” and “Freak on a Leash” full with Jonathan Davis’s signature breakdown. They also briefly threw in Queen‘s stadium rock classic “We Will Rock You” for the special occasion.

Avenged Sevenfold closed out the first night of the festival, marking their second time playing ROTR in the festival’s history. With their trademark pyrotechnics and energetic stage presence, A7X put together the strongest set of the day. The Orange County natives kicked things off with “Nightmare” off their newest album. M. Shadow, Sevenfold’s lead singer,  informed the crowd 2 songs into their set that he blew out his voice three days prior and had to keep quiet so he could be here.

35,000 people were in attendance today coming off a record year in 2010 of approximately 60,000 attendees between both days.

Overall a great day in the Buckeye City and there high hopes for fans tomorrow despite the fact that there are thunderstorms expected late tomorrow night around A Perfect Circle‘s 10pm set.

Caifanes Coachella 2011 photo by @whitemenace

Caifanes , considered among the most important Latin American rock groups, reformed this year and played an intense gig on the first day of Coachella.

According to Consequence of Sound, “Caifanes split 15 years ago, with members continuing to record and tour as Jaguares. Now, evidently, frontman Saúl Hernández and guitarist Alejandro Marcovich have mended their relationship,” which led to the Mexico City rock band’s Coachella showcase yesterday.
