It’s been some time since we’ve heard anything from the boys of Panic At The Disco, but I must say what they’ve just released is pretty good.  I was a huge fan of their first album A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out, and I remember at one point in high school “But It’s Better If You Do” and “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” was a getting-ready song for my girlfriends and I.

Now it’s time for “The Ballad Of Mona Lisa,” which has gotten great reviews since it was released on MTV.

A little creepy, but I love it. Panic! is all about the drama and they certainly have not lost their emo factor. Frontman Brendon Urie told SPIN that this song was very personal to him “an inner-struggle within myself, and fighting the dualities of my personality — the side that f***s everything up and destroys everything and the other side that tries to pick up the slack.”

Fans have been pouring out nothing but love and excitement for the new album. Vices & Virtues is due out on March 29th, but you can preorder the Deluxe Edition of Vices & Virtues on iTunes now.

This version includes the bonus tracks ‘Stall Me’ and ‘Oh Glory (demo),’ and is the only way to get the iTunes exclusive song ‘Bittersweet’. And if that weren’t enough, you’ll also get the music video for ‘The Ballad of Mona Lisa’ and a digital booklet, not to mention an instant download of the song.

Those familiar with the sound of the Panic! At The Disco album Pretty. Odd. won’t be too surprised with the direction Panic! bandmembersRyan Ross and Jon Walker have taken with their new project, The Young Veins. When they left Panic! in 2009, Ross and Walker took their love of West Coast & ’60′s rock-pop and created new material filled with sweet hooks and jangly guitars.

While in NYC recently, Ross and Walker of The Young Veins stopped by Last.fm Discover to perform live in our studio and chat about the career change they made together.

Last July former Panic At The Disco members Ryan Ross and Jon Walker called it quits from the band. In a recent interview, Ross says the departure was similar to “splitting up with a girlfriend.” He also speaks about their new band The Young Veins, which you might have heard on Rodney on the Roq this past Monday.

Ross told NME that he walked out of the Las Vegas four-piece because he didn’t enjoy playing anymore. “ Jon and I just realized that we were never going to be happy being in that band because of certain compromises that we had to keep making,” he explained.

“When we were writing for Panic whether we knew it or not, having that name over the songs we were trying to do made me second guess things and change things. I started to go against my instincts.” “ I started to go against my instincts.

Ross and Walker quit the band after Panic at the Disco released and toured their second album, Pretty. Odd. Ross admits he has failed to keep in contact with the remaining members Brendan Urie  and Spencer Smith and continues to say that “It’s been nearly a year now and it’s a tough thing when you’re in touch with people that long. I can see us being friends in the future but it’s going to take some time for everyone to get over it. It’s like when you break up with your girlfriend after five years it’s not like the next day you’re best friends with them again, is it?”

Ross and Walker have recently completed their forthcoming debut album Take A Vacation! with their new band The Young Veins which features an 11-track album, the bulk of which was recorded at Los Angeles’ Sunset Sound Studios.

Songs slated to appear on the record include the recent single ‘Change’, ‘Cape Town’ and ‘Heart of Mine.’ The album is due out July 5th.

Ross mentions: “Each song is about something pretty specific,” he added. “There’s little stories about ‘Cape Town’ and there’s a song called ‘Heart of Mine’ which we wrote in Asia, and it’s about missing your girlfriend.”
