Chevelle 10th Anniversary Bundle

The band Chevelle just finished playing two shows at the Metro in Chicago commemorating 10 successful years as a band. In continuation of that celebration, the band is releasing an amazing 10 year anniversary bundle that you can pre-order now. In fact, if you pre-order now, your name will be put in the anniversary booklet.

The bundle includes the following

• The Any Last Words? DVD which features the performance of their 10 year anniversary shows in Chicago.

Chevelle sat down with Kevin & Bean on the broadcast stage just a few minutes ago to discuss everything Weenie and their roots in Chicago, including their prediction for the Stanley Cup.

Did you know the band has sold over 3 million records, contradicting the 2 million albums sold as stated on Wikipedia? In a time where selling albums is difficult, these guys managed to find a way to create some great music and generate some album sales.

“Insufferable, crazy fool” probably the best way to describe the crowd since they completely exploded like they were a super nova when Sublime took the stage.  And to be honest, everyone in the web office gushed like 14-year-old girls.  Now, we’ll let their performance stand for itself cause at this point we can’t stand for ourselves.  Alcoholism is a terrible disease, but being awesome isn’t, so combined, we’ll end on a high note.

We love Sublime, but we love you all more.  You make this possible so thank you.

Stone Temple Pilots were introduced by Stryker and that’s where things took off like a bullet to the face.  Once STP took the stage it was like an electric light shower of awesome.  Scott Weiland is like the love child of Robert Plant & James Brown and pretty much brought down the house.  The difference between being a one hit wonder and a rock god is stage presence and STP does not lack in that department one bit.

The boys of Sublime talked performing past and present with Nicole Alvarez really entertained as they hashed over their favorite performance as of recent.  We could tell you, or you could just check out the interview coverage yourself.  Yes, the web department is drunk enough to finally keep it short.  But will we be drunk enough to flash the camera later?

Courtney Love might have taken some time off from performing for a while, but she hasn’t lost her touch.  She’s just as amazing as she was when she hit the scene in the ’90s and that’s saying something.  They played some old stuff, some new stuff and lots of awesome stuff.  There’s a reason that Courtney’s career has lasted this long and it’s two parts awesome and two parts talent, shake and stir.

Stone Temple Pilots and their lead singer Scott Weiland stopped in with Nicole Alvarez to talk about their new album, how it was self produced and incredibly rewarding.  They did not happen to talk about how ridiculously good looking Scott Weiland still is, so let me pause for a second and point it out.  Thank you great creator for making him.  Yum.

During his intro of Devo, Jed the Fish declared that they are the most influential band of his lifetime, and we can’t really disagree.  They opened their set with “Don’t Shoot” and you know almost all the other bands performing at Weenie Roast are sidelined to watch Devo perform, and who can blame them?  Devo’s not only amazing, they’re iconic and tonight they proved both those points.

Paramore opened with “Ignorance,” which is no surprise cause it’s the perfect high energy song to launch a killer set with.  From the blog comments and the Ustream demands, you were all been dying to see Haley Williams & Paramore.  And they did not disappoint, killing their time on stage while the sun set like a rockin’ love story.

Kat Corbett had some girl time with Courtney Love who will perform with a newly reunited Hole.  In addition to speaking about Courtney Love‘s future performance they talked about her time with Gavin Rossdale and fake blow jobs.  Cause what’s girl talk without a little infidelity and sex?

Silversun Pickups are as awesome in real life as they are on stage.  When we stopped by the catering table earlier and ended up grabbing food by them.  Of course we totally swooned over that.  They stopped their set to congratulate Cage the Elephant and Spoon on being some of the best performing bands out there, and we’re finding it hard to disagree with them.  Except for the fact that they’re totally on that list as well!

Our very own Britt Bickel’s part-time lover, Britt Daniel took the stage with Spoon and we’re sure Britt just died a little inside.  Now guess which Britt we’re talking about. Spoon was INCREDIBLE and we say this without seeing all the bands, but they might’ve been the best act so far.  However, it’s becoming pretty clear each time we hear a new band, they’re the best thing we’ve heard all day.

Paramore spent some time chatting it up with Kat Corbett and talking about drummer Zac Farro’s 20th birthday, which he celebrated yesterday.  The gang said they can’t wait to get on stage cause they love performing in the sunny sumer sun.  They did not however mention that they liked melting, so good luck!

Cage The Elephant impressed at this past Acoustic Christmas so it’s no surprise that their set at the Weenie Roast has been UH-MAZ-ING.  These guys really know what it takes to perform live.  They look, sound and feel (Yes, you can feel their energy) incredible.  We nearly lost it when they finally played “Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked,” which we here running the webcast and blog know.  After the party, there’s the party.  We’ll never rest and either will Cage The Elephant.

While you guys are out there sweatin’ it, literally, waiting at the main stage, we’re in the web production sector chillin’ out in air conditioning.  However, it looks like the last thing The Dirty Heads need is air conditioning cause these guys are straight chill on stage.  It’s true, rockstars are born, not made.  However, they may have been upstaged when they invited Psycho Mike on stage to perform “Smoke More Blunts, Lick More Butts.”  Seriously, smoke more, lick more.  Mike introduced Mike Rome who performed “Lay Me Down” with The Dirty Heads.

Britt Daniel of Spoon spoke with our very own Stryker.  He also spoke with our very own blogger Britt Bickel who wants to marry him and be Britt Daniel, as well.  Hopefully, they will someday come together in a happy union and share the same name.  Until then, check out their interview.

Cage the Elephant killed it at Acoustic Christmas, so having them perform at Weenie Roast was clearly a no brainer.  They talked with Stryker about their up and coming tour with Stone Temple Pilots and ended their interview by drenching the front row with the water from the wading pool, talking about cooling the crowd.

The Deftones triumphed despite major technical difficulties.  Their fans packed the Bud Light side stage to maximum capacity and cheered on the band regardless of the sound issues.  Once the problems were taken care of, lead singer, Chino Moreno asked “Is this sh*t working now?”  Yes, yes it is.  And oh how happy we are that it finally is guys.

Chevelle landed on stage and despite a few technical difficulties managed to rock the stage.  Lead singer Pete Loeffler commanded attention, not only cause of his great looks, but fantastic stage presence.  You’d have that the whole set was their hit single “Letter From A Thief” by the way the crowd reacted to them.

The Dirty Heads stopped in to talk with Stryker.  They’re no stranger to KROQ performances as they’ve taken the stage in KROQ’s backyard.  They might be excited to perform, but seemed more stoked to take a dip in the kiddie pool, and with this weather, who can blame them?

Psycho Mike introduces Against Me who jet on stage and really blow away the crowd with their power.  It’s easy to see that the band knows they’re a crowd favorite they really play to the crowd who’re all singing along like crazy, especially when they played “I Was A Teenage Anarchist.”  How many of those do you think are here at Weenie Roast right now, eh?

The Deftones disbanded momentarily when only two members showed up for their interview with Kevin & Bean.  No worries though, the rest of the band plans to appear on the side stage when the group is slated to play at 4:00PM!

Cambridge based Electropop band Passion Pit takes the stage and we can’t wait to hear them perform “The Reeling”!  Their open is impressive and the crowd seems to get energized by their incredible dance tunes.  Lead singer Michael Angelakos is the right amount of talent and good looks, and watching him sweat up their on stage is making us hot!

Chevelle stopped by the interview stage to talk with Kevin & Bean, not about their Weenie Roast plans, but the Stanley Cup.  The band admitted that they’ve gone on stage late in the past just to catch a game.  Lucky for us there isn’t any previously scheduled hockey games so the guys might just hit the stage on time!

The Temper Trap are on stage and are really rockin’ the crowd on the side stage.  We’re got to wonder if the Australian band is used to the scorching southern California heat.  Even if they are, they’re not letting it affect their performance.  When they finally played their hit single “Sweet Disposition” the crowd went crazy, and there’s not question why.  Some bands are just made for fame.

Tom Gabel of Against Me stopped to talk with Kevin & Bean, before taking the stage.  They talked about Against Me’s new music video for “I Am A Teenage Anarchist” where Tom metioned that the video is based on a real life experience where he was beaten up by the cops.  Don’t worry Tom, we won’t let the cops touch you here at the KROQ Weenie Roast 2010.

Blackout caught the interview between Kurt St. Thomas and The Temper Trap‘s.  They’re excited to open the Weenie Roast, but hope people show up early enough to catch their set.  Will you be making it like we will?

People are just starting to arrive and it’s getting hot, real hot.  Today’s gonna be a scorcher and from the looks of it more than just strange smelling cigarettes will burn.  Get ready guys cause things are only barely heating up in the atmosphere.

You probably remember Chevelle from their songs “Send The Pain Below” and “The Red,” or from their performances at the 2003 Weenie Roast or 2003 & 2004 Almost Acoustic Christmas.

“Letter From A Thief” is the newest single from Chevelle, who released their album Sci-Fi Crimes in Summer 2009, and it’s been receiving quite a few spins here on KROQ.

Chevelle formed in 1990 when brothers Pete and Sam Loeffler started jamming in their parent’s garage. Four years later, they added their younger Joe to the band. They played local shows and kept grinding for a few years until they finally released their first full length album, Point #1. The band was originally supported by a Christian record label, leaving fans with the impression that they were a Christian rock group, which in reality was not the case. “Our faith is still extremely important to us, but it’s also very personal. None of us feels being a rock band on stage should be a pedestal for preaching,” says Sam.

In 2002 the band signed with Epic Records, and released their most popular album to date, Wonder What’s Next, which contained the singles “The Red,” “Closure” and “Send The Pain Below.” This album reached platinum status in 2003.

Their next album, This Type Of Thinking (Could Do Us In), was not as successful as the previous record, although it debuted at #8 on the Billboard charts. After the album was released the band parted ways with the youngest brother, Joe Loeffler. He was replaced by the Loeffler’s brother-in-law Dean Bernardini.

The band recorded their fourth studio album (the first with Bernardini) called Vena Sera in 2006, which had a similar sound to the previous Chevelle albums. There were a few singles off the album, including “Well Enough Alone” (which was written about Joe’s departure) and “I Get It.”

Their newest album, Sci-Fi Crimes, was released last summer and reached #6 on the Billboard charts. “Letter From A Thief” is the single on rotation here at KROQ and has frequented the top 20 playlist for a few weeks.
