Laid-back, irreverent reggae-rockers, Hawaii-born San Diego-based Pepper, not only have island vibes in their blood, but infused throughout their music. This makes Pepper the perfect band to kick off the KROQ Roq N’ Surf series at the Descanso Beach Club on Catalina Island for Catalina.com.

Pepper frontman Kaleo Wassman has never been to Catalina, but is excited to find his “great white American Buffalo” shaman in the middle of the island (remnants from a mid-century Disney movie), drink as much as he wants and golf cart everywhere, and dress like a character from the movie Caddy Shack.

“On my finding out about these golf carts, I’ve decided to only dress as members of Caddy Shack the whole time that I’m there. I think I’m going to stick around for maybe a day or two after the show,” said the Kona native after we mutually decided on having a “spiritual escapade” in the middle of Catalina Island.

This summer we’re taking the KROQ Roq N Surf season to a whole new level. We’ve teamed up with Catalina.com for some special shows at the Descanso Beach Club on the beautiful Catalina Island, and we’re kicking things off with our friends PEPPER.

On Saturday, June 16th, Pepper will play a special show under the stars and right on the beach. Opening the show will be Long Beach based singer songwriter Josh Fischel, The Fiction, and Huntington Beach acoustic artists Micah Brown. We’re stoked to head out to Catalina this June and enjoy some tunes under stars.
