So when Sluggo asked me what my all-time favorite KROQ songs are, at first I thought, “are you kidding me?” What an impossible question. Impossible mainly because the answers were endless.

However, I have a few KROQ songs that I have loved my entire life and these are the songs that I pledge an eternity of devotion to for no other reason than I absolutely love the way they make me feel.Watch the videos here

Sometimes there is so much music out there and different sources to discover music, that I fear some things slip through the crack.

Luckily, I have a pretty good system for making sure I don’t miss anything. KROQ, Local’s Only, Spotify, blogs…you know, the essentials.

So, I started a playlist for January 2012. Some old, some new, some in between. However, while I was crafting this playlist, I realized I wanted to collaborate with my friends and KROQ listeners and see if together, we can blow the roof off of other playlists.

I think we can.

So, here are some of my songs, and I would love it if you can throw in some of yours and that way, together, we rock out all the while spreading the joy of music all over this biatch.

Let’s go!

Check out my list of songs, then add your own!

What is your New Year’s Resolution?

KEVIN

I’m gonna stop answering the question “What’s my new year’s resolution?”

STRYKER

To not play Under the Bridge by Red Hot Chili Peppers.

NICOLE

My New Year’s Resolution is to be way more organized and get my sky diving certification so I can go on a night jump.

KAT

Resolutions suck. It always involves suffering of some sort. Quit smoking, give up chocolate, lose weight. Blech. Life is for living. Just don’t be a dick.

Bean’s resolution may surprise you. Click to read.

How are you preparing for the end of the world. (According to the Mayans the world will end in 2012.)

BEAN
I am going to drive around the first week of December next year and look for people who absolutely 100% believe that the Mayans were right and it’s all over for humanity on December 12th. Then I will try to make them give me all their stuff.

SLUGGO (DOUG THE SLUG)
Last time I used my time machine, the Mayan dude makin’ the calendar was runnin’ outta space on the big rock wheel and was asking some dude (who looked a LOT like Bene) whether or not he should try n’ add more dates past 2012 or just call it a bloody day already. Then I stepped on a butterfly and all hell broke loose.

KEVIN
I'm gonna wait around for the losers who believe that to run for the hills and then I'm gonna get me a new TV.

What was your biggest personal change of 2011?

STRYKER

“I quit RedTube”

NICOLE

I became an adrenaline junkie.
Nicole
“My biggest personal change of 2011 has to be the fact that I became fearless. I ran with the bulls in Pamplona and there is nothing I won’t jump out of these days. So I guess the fact that I became an adrenaline junkie is what defines my personal change this year. I figure it is way better to have a thirst for base jumping than it is to have a thirst for hookers and blow. Although Charlie Sheen seems to be the exception to the rule.”

KEVIN

“Drastically cut back on reading. Used to read almost nothing. So I cut that way back.”

BEER MUG

“To work on the 3 Ps. Preparation, Perseverance, and…uh…that’s AMAZING.”

First of all, I would like to thank Sluggo for being the coolest. When he asked me to be he his guest and help celebrate Eddie Vedder’s birthday, well needless to say, I was beyond honored. So hey you, Sluggo! you rule.

I celebrate Eddie Vedder’s birthday every year, because, as far as I am concerned, that man is an angel. A bona fide saint.

I remember the first time I ever heard his voice. I was at Lollapalooza with a group of friends and they were all bitching and moaning about being tired and dirty and wanting to leave. Seeing as I was the minority and I had no other ride than this chick’s mom, I proceeded to walk out of the park with them. As we were about to cross the threshold of the exit, THAT is when it happened. The voice that has become my life-long voice of reason was introduced to me that day.Check out my Eddie Vedder birthday playlist!

Cage The Elephant to Kevin & Bean
This past weekend was a wild one, with some of the biggest bands around performing to SOLD OUT crowds both nights at the Gibson Amphitheatre. Not only did each band dish out an incredible performance, but they also sat down with some of our KROQ DJs for exclusive interviews.

Just a little taste of what’s ahead: Blink and their sense of humor, Sublime With Rome make a big announcement, Kat makes out with Dave Navarro, Cage The Elephant perform a special Christmas song for Kevin & Bean and much, much more.

Ronnie Radke from Falling In Reverse
Post-hardcore Epitaph-signed band, Falling In Reverse, released their début album, The Drug In Me Is You, this July–much to the joy of loyal fans, especially those of insanely popular lead singer Ronnie Radke.

Once part of another band in the post-hardcore scene called Escape The Fate, Radke moved on and formed a band with guitarist Jacky Vincent, drummer Ryan Seaman, bassist Mika Horiuchi, and rhythm guitarist Derek Jones.

Since the release of The Drug In Me Is You, the album has reached number 19 on the Billboard 200 with their music video for single “I’m Not A Vampire” garnering about 1.7 million views since its release in the last week of October.

Despite the cancellation of some recent tour dates, Falling In Reverse showed off their brash, provocative post-hardcore sound and chatted with Nicole Alvarez during an exclusive live webcast at the Red Bull Sound Space at KROQ on Tuesday evening. The band talked about what artist they were planning on jokingly playing, what Radke would have done if he were in a different state of mind, and alludes to a band he has major beef with.

Metallica with Lou ReedMetallica with Lou Reed

So , when I first got wind of the news that Lou Reed and Metallica were collaborating on an album together, I thought to myself, “Cool! This COULD be good and at the very least, I am highly intrigued by the thought if it.”

Very interesting indeed.

When I was asked to review it, I said, “Hell yeah!,” and please imagine to yourself the look of giddy enthusiasm draped on my face when with clenched fists and Christmas morning-like excitement, I shouted out “Yes!”

Metallica is one of those bands I claim as “my band.” Clearly, I am aware that they are everyone’s band, but you know that when you truly love a band so much and you swear by them, at one point or another you claim complete ownership of them and you refer to them as “my band.” Everybody has that band. This album is crazy nuts. Keep reading to find out why.

Duck Sauce - Big Bad WolfDuck Sauce - Big Bad Wolf

I can’t remember the last time I saw a video that both fascinated me and nauseated me at the same time. All the while, keeping me hilariously entertained and glued to the screen.

Then along came Duck Sauce’s “Big Bad Wolf.”

Duck Sauce is a duo made up of A-trak and Armand Van Helden. They did this world a HUGE favor by giving us the infectious “Barbara Streisand.”Watch Big Bad Wolf! It’s soooo strange.
