This week we added 3 new songs to the KROQ playlist: The Black Keys “Gold On The Ceiling,” Red Hot Chili Peppers “Look Around” and The Shins “Simple Song.”

The Chili Peppers’ “The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie” made it’s way back into the top spot, knocking Gotye‘s “Somebody That I Used To Know” down to #4. Rise Against‘s “Satellite” found itself back in the top 5, alongside The Black Keys “Lonely Boy” and Foo Fighters‘ “Walk” at #2 and #3 respectively. Coldplay‘s “Charlie Brown” entered the most-played list at #23, while Bush‘s new single “Baby Come Home” climbed from #19 to #11.

2012 is shaping up to be a huge year for The Shins. Frontman James Mercer has an all-new backing band for Port of Morrow, Mercer’s first new music under his band’s moniker in five years. And The Shins are high up on the Coachella bill — playing both Saturdays of the sold-out mega-festival.

Hopefully you’ve already heard the power-pop jangle of lead single “Simple Song” — now get ready for the B-side, “September”. The single is out Feb. 14, but The Shins dropped an amazing lyric/artwork video to accompany the old-school love song/classic rock vibe, along with a sort-of album trailer.Check out ‘September’ and the behind the scenes video!

The new video for The Black Keys‘ song “Gold On The Ceiling” shows footage of their album release show for El Camino at Webster Hall in New York City, mixed with some shots of them performing in the studio as well.

It’s a pretty cool video for fans to check out what a Black Keys show is like. You can check out The Black Keys on Friday, April 13th and 20th at Coachella 2012 – enter to win tickets here.

Last year, Mumford & SonsEdward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros and Old Crow Medicine Show embarked on a special kind of tour. They boarded a vintage train and played a series of shows along the railway across the US – including a sold out SoCal stop in San Pedro.

A film crew tagged along as well to capture the entire thing, which will be presented as the film “Big Easy Express.” Yesterday, the trailer for the film was released and gives us a glimpse at just how awesome that tour really was. The documentary is set to premiere at SXSW next month.

recording their next original full-length album!  The band hasn’t released an album of original songs since their 2007 release, Monkeys for Nothin’ and the Chimps for Free.  We can’t wait to hear new music from these guys, and they recently released a behind-the-scenes video of how the recording process is going and what to expect from the upcoming album.

They had about 20 dancers with neon paint and we put like four or five wristbands on each arm. So they were definitely glowing in the dark. It looked really cool.

Filmed in London, the latest visual offering from Coldplay is a treat for your eyes and ears.

“Charlie Brown” is a track that gets you on your feet and feeling good. Coldplay fan Jason Regler invented the Xyloband flashing wristbands which have become an incredible part of the Mylo Xyloto live shows and are featured in the new Charlie Brown video. Similar to the giant inflatable balls that dropped over Arcade Fire’s audience at least year’s Coachella performance, these wristbands are remote-controlled so an operator can control the color and placement! The wearer becomes a human marionette.Watch Charlie Brown and see the glowing wristbands here.

Fresh with their latest electronica-inspried sound, KORN hit Jimmy’s stage to perform two songs from their latest release The Path Of Totality that must have freaked out their censors. “Get Up,” the first single from the Cd is riddled with F-bombs and Jonathan highlighted all of them, although none of which made it onto the video. Thankfully, the songs are good enough to stand without the 30+ F-words. Right?

What do you think about KORN’s new sound and how do you feel about the songs being censored on YouTube?Watch the videos and let us know.

I think we can all agree that seeing Dave Grohl in a sitcom, not such a bad idea. On top of being the frontman for the Foo Fighters and just being one of the most bad ass rockstars working today, he is actually a really funny dude! He is probably one of the few rockstars that could pull off doing a short set at a comedy club, and kill it!

Though it hasn’t been said if Grohl would make an appearance on screen, we do know that he is officially signed on as an executive producer of the show.I loves me some Grohl. Tell me more.

gotye-kimmel-385

Up and coming star Gotye took to the outdoor stage at Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night for an incredible performance. He performed his songs “Eyes Wide Open” and the current #1 song on KROQ “Somebody That I Used To Know,” featuring Kimbra, both off his new album Making Mirrors.

Gotye is also coming in to the KROQ studios tomorrow and we want to ask him some of YOUR questions! Want to know more about this new sensation? Submit your questions after the jump.

Beginning with a clip of thousands of fans holding up their phones while rocking out in a sold out stadium, ”These Days” by the Foo Fighters is a fan-worthy tour montage providing a firsthand look at the band on the road. With a couple shots of Dave Grohl hugging his wife and kids before taking off on a Foos trip Down Under (the same trip that caused those earthquake-level tremors), you get a behind-the-scenes look at how the tour went down complete with candid footage of the band playing around.

If you couldn’t make it to one of the Wasting Light Tour stops, this Wayne Isham directed video might be the next best thing.
