Listen Live to KROQ

friends

So, I’m still ‘touring the facilities’ in my long, white jacket and I think it’s gonna take the rest of the week. THEREFORE, my fine feathered fellow KROQ joqs are tossing you a bone and playing videos at you here on the series of tubes in my absence.

My friend KAT is up today – her first choice is by Friends and it’s called “Friend Crush”. I’m crossing everything that I can that this is some sort of clandestine message to me. Like, maybe she’s had a labotomy recently and suddenly I don’t look so bad.

Anyway, about it she says: “I love the retro sound of this and the weird keyboard is very dreamlike.”Watch the videos here

What is your New Year’s Resolution?

KEVIN

I’m gonna stop answering the question “What’s my new year’s resolution?”

STRYKER

To not play Under the Bridge by Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Stryker
To not play Under the bBidge by Red Hot Chili Peppers.

NICOLE

My New Year’s Resolution is to be way more organized and get my sky diving certification so I can go on a night jump.

KAT

Resolutions suck. It always involves suffering of some sort. Quit smoking, give up chocolate, lose weight. Blech. Life is for living. Just don’t be a dick.

Bean’s resolution may surprise you. Click to read.

KROQ's BeanKROQ's Bean

How are you preparing for the end of the world. (According to the Mayans the world will end in 2012.)

BEAN
I am going to drive around the first week of December next year and look for people who absolutely 100% believe that the Mayans were right and it’s all over for humanity on December 12th. Then I will try to make them give me all their stuff.

SLUGGO (DOUG THE SLUG)
Last time I used my time machine, the Mayan dude makin’ the calendar was runnin’ outta space on the big rock wheel and was asking some dude (who looked a LOT like Bene) whether or not he should try n’ add more dates past 2012 or just call it a bloody day already. Then I stepped on a butterfly and all hell broke loose.

KEVIN
I'm gonna wait around for the losers who believe that to run for the hills and then I'm gonna get me a new TV.

What was your biggest personal change of 2011?

STRYKER

“I quit RedTube”

NICOLE

I became an adrenaline junkie.
Nicole
“My biggest personal change of 2011 has to be the fact that I became fearless. I ran with the bulls in Pamplona and there is nothing I won’t jump out of these days. So I guess the fact that I became an adrenaline junkie is what defines my personal change this year. I figure it is way better to have a thirst for base jumping than it is to have a thirst for hookers and blow. Although Charlie Sheen seems to be the exception to the rule.”

KEVIN

“Drastically cut back on reading. Used to read almost nothing. So I cut that way back.”

BEER MUG

“To work on the 3 Ps. Preparation, Perseverance, and…uh…that’s AMAZING.”

Bean’s answer is surprisingly heartfelt. Click to read.

What was your favorite album of 2011 and why?

NICOLE
My favorite SONG of 2011…”Walk” by the Foo Fighters.

Nicole and her bull-running buddies

There was so much good music all over the place this year, I could barely keep up. Musically speaking, there was never a dull moment. However, out of all the songs that came out this year, the Foo Fighter’s “Walk” was, by far, the song that meant the most to me. I had so many “moments” with that song that if given the opportunity, I would have its babies. In fact, it was the song me and 8 of my friends listened to the morning we ran with bulls in Pamplona, Spain. It made us brave. I went as far as to tattoo some of the lyrics on my chest. Yes, very close to my heart (and my boobie).

Get Your Friends And Check Out The 2012 C Class Coupe From Mercedes Benz[Gallery] Get Your Friends And Check Out…

I’ve been zooming around town in a new 2012 C-Class Coupe from Mercedes Benz and I realize for some of you a Mercedes Benz seems intimidating, perhaps something only your parents would drive or not sporty enough for your rock n roll lifestyle. Well, I’ve enlisted the help of my very cute English Bulldog V to show you what you are missing.

You've made me blush, now I'm not gonna bring it tonight.
Cage The Elephant to Kevin & Bean
This past weekend was a wild one, with some of the biggest bands around performing to SOLD OUT crowds both nights at the Gibson Amphitheatre. Not only did each band dish out an incredible performance, but they also sat down with some of our KROQ DJs for exclusive interviews.

Just a little taste of what’s ahead: Blink and their sense of humor, Sublime With Rome make a big announcement, Kat makes out with Dave Navarro, Cage The Elephant perform a special Christmas song for Kevin & Bean and much, much more.

See all the amazing interviews here.

Midnight Hour first came together in 2006, one year before the release of their first ep “Ghost in the Mirror.” Although he was happy with the art they created together, front man Brad Lodge was never comfortable with his bands initial mix of members. As fate would have it, Lodge met Tim Johnson, Dan Ardis, Jared Mitchell and James Mitchell.

With the lineup solidified the Band began collaborating on material; within weeks, the single, “Running Away,” was created and helped introduce the band to the world via several T.V. shows. This exposure created the global base that has spawned over a million YouTube hits via fan generated videos. Since then the band has self-produced their first LP (self titled) and got the funding they needed to create the record from their loyal fan base.

The first single, “Modern Love,” received a huge push thanks to the keen ears of Kat Corbett and KROQ’s Locals Only. The band’s fans have nearly crippled KROQ.com with their repeat requests for more airtime. If their fan base continues to grow at the current pace, the band will likely find itself playing in bigger and bigger venues around the country.

It’s no surprise that KROQ is bringing you new local music. We’ve been doing it for decades. Sublime, Linkin Park, Stone Temple Pilots, Foster The People, Social Distortion, She Wants Revenge, Incubus, Jane’s Addiction, Korn and hundreds more bands were all once small, relatively unknown artists, struggling to get heard. We’re proud to say that we’ve had the honor of bringing great music to you over the years.

Now, what may be surprising is that we’ve teamed up with Mercedes-Benz to bring you the latest round of “must hear” local bands. Why Mercedes-Benz? They’re awesome cars with amazing sound systems and let’s be honest, most of us aspire to own one when we get real jobs. Now, thanks to Kat’s new friends she’s driving a new C250 Coupe. This couldn’t have come at a better time. Her old car was beat up from the feet up. No, seriously, we were in fear for her life. It was a miracle that she made it out to Coachella last year. Thanks to MB, she’s now rolling in style, sunroof open, blaring new local tunes from her iPod direct connect.

So, we asked Mercedes-Benz for custom key chain memory sticks and then we loaded them up with 20 of our favorite new KROQ Locals Only songs. As you’ll see after the jump, this key chain is no joke. Toss your keys up on the bar and you’ll be asked “When did you get a new car?” You’d swear it was the real Mercedes-Benz ignition key.

Get to know the bands and enter to win your custom USB key chain!

They are calling it the ultimate midnight movie and its world premier is this Thursday at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. Four directors known for films such as Detroit Rock City, Frozen, Wrong Turn 2 and 2001 Maniacs took their love of the B-movie world and combined efforts to give fans of horror schlock something to scream about.

Let me explain why you need to experience this!
