Hi, I’ve moved to NYC and really miss Rodney. Is there any way I can purchase a “Rodney on the ROQ” t-shirt for a slice of home? It would really mean a lot to me.
There is no one like him!
Thanks,
Lisa

Hey Rodney, d’ya remember the 1984 London charter that KROQ sponsored? I was on that trip… I recall you were searching for Ronnettes records and found some at a record store I pointed you towards, on Carnaby Street. That was a very kewl trip. Do you know if the station has any archive photos or whatever from the trip?
I remember there was a Psychedelic Furs concert in Hammersmith. And the trip extended to Paris which was fun. That dance place called the Swimming Pool.

Hey Rodney , I just watched your Mayor of Sunset Strip and I think you are an amazing person for helping all those people out . I’m so glad there’s still people out there that are still in it for the music! I live in Iowa City ,Ia and can’t even listen to the crap they play on the radio here but I do have a led Zep tape in my truck I play everyday, and I get my music fix by photographing local bands for free for there Facebook profiles , all the sudden I have all these “friends” . I use to hate Iowa city after moving here from Beverly Hills working at Saks 5th Ave. I was all about seeing famous people until I met a few of them . Anyways Rodney I know I’m babbling I’m a little stoned , I cried at the end of your movie and could see you are a good person. And I wish we had a dj here that cared about music the way you and I do. Check out my boys page 5inahand.com and pull see that there is still people out there that have that old 70 s soul in rock n roll
peace stay wonderful do what makes u happy not what you want others to think make you happy . Muuuuah love yuh !

Yup, me too, saw the doc. Excellent. You Roq Rodney. You help push some of my favorite bands for decades. Personally, I think all the bands who you helped who made it and have it to spare should each donate like $25,000 each to you, it would add up to a Hell of a lot. Hang in there superman. Thanks. I was in a band here, and we were doing kind of good, and we met this Lady, and she had a lot of money, so the plan was made to go in Cherrokee Studios and make a Big Hit Record! Well the Band went in the studio, without me, did’nt feel too good, then a buddy of mine, Peanut, came along, and said, hey I got this song, wanna go in the studio in Venice and record it, I said sure, I got this Surf song called “Suicide Surf”, we’ll make a single, the song was called “School Sucks”, guess who played it?
Rodney!!!!!!!!!! When your World is Crumbling, Ya got somewhere to go, the back staircase of KROQ in Pasadena, just saw the Doc, Great stuff, JD

Dear Rodney,

Hi Rodney,
I just watched your biography on Showtime. I was, so moved. I worked in the music industry for years, but in a boring desk job. I like so many of my co-workers wasn’t there for the pay (because sometimes it didn’t pay at all), but for the love of music, the excitement of being so close to a creative process. There was never a more exciting part of my day then the emails with the magic words: We have extra tickets for tonight. I have saved almost every ticket stub.
Thank you for reminding me of that. Thanks for bring so much great music into the light for all of us to enjoy. You are a true patron.

rodney-
im 27 years old and i just watched a documentary on showtime that was about your life & your impact on the music industry and i was touched by it. im a maniac when it comes to music. i love music from any time period and you had a major impact on the music industry from the 60′s-til now. pretty much i just wanted to say that i was extremely thankful for your contribution to the music industry…..many bands wouldn’t have made it without your help as a disc jockey. its a very annoying to turn on the radio and hear the same songs over and over again. especially when you know a band has a many great songs besides the radio friendly ones they play till you cant stand a song that you once loved. pretty much what im trying to say is that you should be a jockey thats on primetime playing the underdog’s tunes, the up and comers and the other 10 songs from an album that arnt on the top 20. i appreciate the pure love that you had and still have for the music.
thank you
