This weekend, starting today, is one of the best weekends of the year. X Games 16 starts at Staples Center, the Event Deck at L.A. Live, Nokia Theater, and this year the Rally Cars and a bunch of motocross will be across the street at the L.A. Coliseum.  It’s ALL on ESPN and ESPN 2, and tonight watch 30 on 30 for The Birth of Big Air featuring Brian Deegan produced by Johnny Knoxville.

If you can, and haven’t been in person, you  must. If you can’t, you must watch. Don’t be a communist. Because then the terrorists have already won.

In a just world, without an evil  ”machine,” taking advantage of the helpless, my favorite band wouldn’t exist. I’m in favor of people being mistreated (somewhere else),  because I love Rage so much, and when people are mistreated, they take the stage and melt your face.

This past weekend, Rage played for the first time in 10 years in L.A. at the Palladium to protest Arizona law SB 1070, which we lovingly refer to as the “He’s a Mexican! Get him!” law.

I’m a huge sucker for vampire stories. (No pun intended.) Twilight is a  monster success. The books and the movies. But the best vampire show right now  is on HBO. It’s called True Blood and it stars Anna Paquin. And it has what Twilight lacks. It has death,  blood, And nudity, including nudity from Anna Paquin. But most importantly, True Blood has LUST. A vampire story without lust is like a Jack and Coke without Jack.

I just got around to last week’s episode, because there was too much World Cup to watch, and after the True Blood episode, they showed a music video from Snoop Dogg. It’s a song he wrote for “Sookie”, which is Anna Paquin’s character on the show.

There are a hundred ways to remix audio, and we’ve received some amazing remixes from our listeners. So here’s your latest homework. The tape that is allegedly Mel Gibson yelling at his ex-girlfriend on the phone.

It wasn’t exactly a goal-a-palooza. As a matter of fact, the final game of the World Cup was a bit boring with  a couple seconds of crazy excitement sprinkled throughout.

For highlights of the final, and my favorite moment from the World Cup, other than Landon Donovan’s goal against Algeria, click more.

On paper, this could be the best match of the entire World Cup. Spain and Germany play this morning at 11:30 on ESPN. A lot of people thought that Spain, having never won the World Cup, would win this year. But Germany, although not quite as talented, is peaking at EXACTLY the right moment, and their momentum might be hard to stop.

There are only 4 teams left in the World Cup and the first semifinal game is this morning at 11:30 on ESPN.

Today’s game is the Netherlands vs. Uruguay. I’m picking the Netherlands because of this picture.. And secondarily, I’m not sure Uruguay is even a country.

This is something you NEVER see. The guy in the black uniform is the U.S. goalie, Tim Howard. The guy in the purple uniform is the goalie for Ghana, Richard Kingson. It’s a bizarre scenario when they are this close to each other.

In the 29th minute of overtime on Saturday, out of 30, Landon Donovan had a corner kick, and our goalie, Howard, ran 110 yards to try and head in the tying goal. It didn’t work.

Playing from behind, the U.S. specialty, bites you in the ass. It did Saturday. Ghana moves on. The U.S. comes home.

The announcer said, “It is breath-takingly exciting!” With a flare for the last second heart-attack win, the U.S. team advanced into the next round with a goal from Landon Donovan in stoppage time.

For you non-soccer fans, that’s after the full game, all 90 minutes, they add a few extra minutes for injuries, or substitutions, in this case 4 minutes, and then the game is over. Donovan scored the game winner in the 91st minute. If we tied, we were out. With the win, the U.S. advances to the knock-out stage.

204 Countries tried to qualify. 32 Countries qualified. The U.S. is in the final 16.
