I realize few people outside of motorsports will ever need this tool, but for those of you who drive serious off-road trucks, sand cars, UTVs or even racetrack-worthy road cars, you’ll need All German Motorsports’ Uniball Tool Kit at some point and here’s why.
Factory ball joints don’t stand up to the beating that off-road or race-track vehicles are forced to endure. Just the rotating force alone of a big wheel and tire package is enough to wear out your factory upper control arm’s ball joint resulting in rattling and ultimately breakage.
Take the ball joints in my truck, a Chevy 3500 HD. After I lifted the truck and mounted 37″ tires to a set of 24″ wheels, I added nearly 100 pounds of rotating mass. This was enough to wear out my ball joints in less than 2,500 miles, just with daily driving! I swapped out the upper control arms for uniball-ready arms with 4130 chrome moly hardware. I’ve had no issues since. But installing and uninstalling the ball joints, well, that’s a huge task if don’t have a lift or a shop with bearing press.
That’s where the Uniball Tool Kit comes in. Typically, to install or remove uniball hardware from your control arms means removing the entire assembly from your vehicle… not anymore! I brought my uniball tool to 4 Wheel Parts in Redondo Beach. The mechanics were blown away. By using my tool they saved more than 45 minutes by not having to remove my upper control arms.
Time is money. This is why you need this tool.
The company offers 7/8″, 1″ and 1.5″ tools a la carte, or a full kit which comes complete with a uni-ball tool, a replacement snap ring, high-quality German-made snap ring pliers, an angle head pick (used to clean out snap ring groove) and an 18-inch emery cloth.
