Keeping your music fresh every week

Every weekend has a party. Every party has music. Make sure your party doesn’t stink of stale music. Check back here every Friday for the newest album releases to keep yourself fresh. (Last week – A Day to Remember)

This is a HUGE music release weekend. Albums from Bastille, Grouplove, Head & the Heart, Jack White, Local Natives, M.I.A., Norma Jean, Of Mice & Men AND Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds!

Bastille‘s new album, Wild Worldis the follow up to the group’s smash debut, Bad Blood – which hit Gold in the U.S. powered by its singles “Pompeii” “Bad Blood” “Flaws” and “Things We Lost in the Fire.” They continue their hot streak with the first single off the new album, “Good Grief” which has carved itself into the KROQ playlist as well as charts across the globe. They’ll be at the Troubadour for back to back sell outs on October 9th & 10th.

Big Mess, the new album from Grouplove, is the group’s third following 2013’s Spreading Rumours & their debut, Never Trust a Happy Song that contained the undeniably fun &  KROQ favorite, “Tongue Tied.” The hometown LA group will be bringing the new single, “Welcome to Your Life” and more to the KROQ Red Bull Sound Space, Sept 16th! Enter to win tickets here  If you miss them at KROQ, you’ll have another chance to catch them Friday, October 7th at the Palladium. TICKETS

The Seattle folk-pop band, The Head & the Heart release album three of their brewing collection. They began like most bands do, with a self titled debut, The Head and the Heart, in 2011. Following up the debut with 2013’s Let’s Be Still and the popular single, “Shake” the band continued to expand their sound. Culminating with today’s release, Signs of Light, that brought their hit single, “All We Ever Knew” to the Red Bull Sound Space. Make sure to check them out Friday, Oct 7th at the Greek Theater – TICKETS

I believe it’s fair to say you are fully aware of who Jack White is at this point. What you may not be aware of, is that today he releases Acoustic Recordings 1998-2016 that feature, you guessed it, acoustic recordings. They travel from a brand new unreleased White Stripes track, “City Lights” to acoustic renderings of classic Jack White including The White Stripes, The Raconteurs and solo Jack White tracks. There’s a pretty killer interactive timeline off the songs available on his webpage – here.

Silverlake heroes, Local Natives, return with album number three titled Sunlit Youth. The album has been spearheaded by the release of three singles so far, “Past Lives” – which was performed lived on the Late Late Show with James Corden“Fountain of Youth” & “Villainy.” They return home to the Greek Theater next Friday, the 16th – TICKETS

AIM, album five from M.I.A. , could be the firecracker singer’s last album. Earlier this summer, she was quoted saying it would be her final studio album but still planned on making music in some regard. M.I.A. is probably still best known for her jam, “Paper Planes” off her 2007 second album, Kala. The album gets writing and producing assistance from Skrillex, Diplo and more.

Metal veterans, Norma Jean, release Polar Similar, the band’s 7th!! Their last 5 have all charted, from the 2005 album O’ God the Aftermath to 2013’s Wrongdoers. If this one charts as well, it’ll be a straight decade of success. They’ve definitely been trying to achieve that, releasing three singles from the record,  “Forever Hurtling Towards Andromeda”  “Synthetic Sun” & “1,000,000 Watts.” They’ll be visiting the area Sat Nov 12th at the Glasshouse in Pomona & Sun Nov 13th in Anaheim at Chain Reaction.

Orange County’s metalcore rockers, Of Mice & Men, not to be confused with Of Monsters & Men – the folk rock band, drop Cold World, their fourth, behind the single “Pain.”

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds‘ 16th album Skeleton Tree comes on the heels of their highest charting album to date. The 2013 album, Push the Sky Away hit number 1 in six different countries (Top 5 in 16 countries), it peaked at 29 here in the U.S. “Jesus Alone” teases the album as the only single released thus far.

Make sure to come back next week with new drops from Taking Back Sunday, Against Me!, Die Antwoord & more.
