Play The Smiths Videogame: ‘Meat Is Murder’

PETA is not playing around when it comes to veganism.

By Hayden Wright

To convince a new generation of citizens to go vegan, PETA has reached into your throwback playlist to create a new game. “Meat is Murder,” titled after the Smiths’ song of the same name, features a polyphonic ringtone cover of that track and a simple message for players: Save the Animals.

“Thirty years ago, the Smiths sang, ‘the flesh you so fancifully fry is not succulent, tasty, or kind—it’s death for no reason, and death for no reason is murder.’ Help stop the murder by pledging to go vegan,” urges PETA.

The game prompts users to save animals from various slaughterhouse fates by clicking on them. However, with several slaughterhouse scenarios to mind at once, it becomes impossible for gamers to handle the volume of dying animals. It’s a compelling metaphor for veganism, which forbids the consumption of any animal products.
