Maybe buying an ostentatious vehicle wasn't such a good idea.

The Head And The Heart were winning over hearts and souls long before they signed to a record label. But it wasn’t until the Seattle group teamed with Sub Pop Records that they actually got paid for their music. And with that first check, what did they buy? New gear? A down payment on a condo? Go on a trip? Not keyboardist Kenny Hensley. He fancied himself a car guy.

When asked what the silliest purchase Head And The Heart members had made, Hensley admitted that becoming a “car guy” wasn’t at all what he expected. He bought a mid-80s Rolls Royce, which, according to Hensley, was once owned by classic rock hero Peter Wolf. After having the car for a time, Hensley realized the ostentatious vehicle brought him more attention than he bargained for.

The Head And The Heart’s latest album, Signs of Light, is available now.
