In 1994, Duke Erikson, Steve Marker, and Butch Vig met Shirley Manson for the first time, and Garbage was born. They released their eponymous debut album a year later and, behind songs like “Stupid Girl,” “Only Happy When It Rains,” and “Queer,” would sell over 2 million albums in the U.S. alone, becoming one of the most influential albums of the 1990’s.
