On Saturday night, AC/DC rather quietly announced, via press release, that Axl Rose would be taking over as their frontman, replacing Brian Johnson.

Fans may have found that story surprising (even though it had been rumored for weeks). But it was true, and to bring the point home, Guns N Roses was joined by AC/DC’s main man, iconic guitarist Angus Young, during their set at Coachella, in the early hours of Sunday morning.

First he joined the band for the classic “Whole Lotta Rosie,” a song that GnR covered in their early days as a club band. He stayed for a second song, “Riff Raff.” From there he left the stage, as the band stayed in classic rock mode, during an instrumental version of Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here.”

Young, of course, is no stranger to the festival: AC/DC headlined  last year.

Guns N Roses has two gigs in Mexico City this week, and will then play Coachella again next weekend. After that, Rose will do a string of European dates with AC/DC in May and June. Then, GNR’s U.S .dates kick off June 23 in Detroit and last through August. After that, presumably, AC/DC will make up their string of 10 U.S. tour dates with Rose on the mic; the make up dates have yet to be announced.
