Run River North is an indie band straight out of Los Angeles, though you may have heard of them through their former name Monsters Calling Home.
The band caught their first big break when Honda surprised them with a secret booking on Jimmy Kimmel Live! in 2012 after they recorded an entire music video in a few of the automaker’s vehicles. The band relabeled themselves as Run River North, put out their debut self-titled album in February 2014, then hit the road with bands like Anberlin and the Goo Goo Dolls, making their way around the United States and even performing a small run of shows in London.
Run River North didn’t stop there, however, as they hit the studio with producer Lars Stalfors (Cold War Kids, Deap Valley, Matt & Kim) to record their forthcoming sophomore album, Drinking From A Salt Pond, which is due out February 26th via Nettwerk Records.
Their first single “Run Or Hide” was released November 13th, and today we’re excited to premiere the new music video for it.
“This album embodies, more distinctly, the voices of each member of the band. The first album was about my view of family, home and the world and the rest of the band responding to these stories,” says frontman Alex Hwang. “This album is everyone’s individual responses to our collective self-reflection – with each member speaking through their respective instruments to express the relationships within the band rather than my folk stories wrapped in harmonies and swells.”
