Tom Morello, Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson Star in Future User’s Hilarious ‘Voodoo Juju’ Video: Watch

"All that footage of my back being opened up is real, no joke."

by Jay Tilles

In Future User‘s new graphic video for their post-industrial track “Voodoo Juju,” frontman Tim Commerford convinced a surgeon to allow the taping of his spinal surgery.

But before the real surgery begins, a money-hungry, finely coiffed Dr. Van Drusel, played by former Rage Against the Machine bandmate Tom Morello, bilks his patient for every last cent, charging Commerford’s credit card at every opportunity. Footage of Commerford’s actual spinal surgery is intermixed with shots of Morello performing the operation at gunpoint by the band’s ever-present, mask-wielding character named S.W.I.M.

Out of time and having nearly botched the surgery, Morello leaves his patient on the operating table, helpless.

But all is not lost for Commerford. Rush‘s Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson play the parts of Canadian doctors who explain that health care in Canada is free for all. The duo proceed to finish the surgery where Morello left off.
