Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: 5 Things to Avoid

Attention all web heads and fanboys and girls of every stripe: Marvel just announced yesterday that everyone’s favorite web slinger, Spider-Man, is going to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

This is huge. Marvel’s done an amazing job so far in folding all its franchises into a single cohesive universe, with the exception of Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men lines, which have been tied up with copyright and licensing issues between various studios. Under the new deal, Spider-Man will first appear in a MCU film, which will then be followed by a reported “next installment of its $4 billion Spider-Man franchise, on July 28, 2017.”
