On Monday we remember the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at The Kingdom Day Parade followed by a visit to California African American Museum.
Then on Tuesday, we have our very first Sound Space performance of 2015 featuring SoCal native Banks!
Enjoy your day off and celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with some awesome free events happening across Los Angeles.
Los Angeles: The Kingdom Day Parade runs from 11am-1pm on Vermont and Martin Luther King Blvds in Leimert Park, featuring marching bands, military units, dancing groups and over 150 floats. After the parade there will be a day-long street festival with food, performances, music and dancing. This year’s theme is “Love and Respect: Let It Begin with Me.” For more info, visit KingdomDayParade.org.
Los Angeles: The California African American Museum in Exhibition Park will also be hosting a day-long celebration featuring food and live performances. The museum will also be free to all attendees and will be launching their new exhibit, Target Sundays at CAAM. For more info, visit CAAMuseum.org.
Culver City: Orange County native Jillian Rose Banks aka BANKS will be joining us in the Red Bull Sound Space for an intimate performance this Tuesday, January 20. BANKS began writing music at the young age of 15 during the period of her parents’ divorce, finding solace with her pen and her keyboard. We couldn’t be more stoked to welcome her to the station.
Costa Mesa: Food Truck Fare at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa offers foodies the chance to sample the best in gourmet food truck bombness on Wednesday January 21 from 5:30-9pm. Admission is free, though you will have to purchase some food (and did I mention there’s a cash bar?). Catch the KROQ crew hanging around Costa Mesa for the evening and don’t be afraid to hit them up for a sticker!
DTLA: Our Los Angeles Clippers are hosting the Brooklyn Nets at Staples Center on Thursday night in an East Coast vs West Coast showdown. Catch the KROQ crew supporting “Lob City” and hanging downtown. Make sure to say hello!

First up, on Friday night, White Arrows will be bringing the heat with some psych-rock for the modern era. They had a tremendous 2014, featuring spots opening for The Flaming Lips on tour and significant airplay in our Locals Only program and other independent radio across the country.
