With three nights on Letterman already under their belt, featuring special guests Heart, Tony Joe White and Zac Brown, it’s not going to be easy for the Foo Fighters to outdo themselves. Seriously, they almost made David Letterman cry on Wednesday night. But, somehow they managed.

After releasing their new single “Something From Nothing,” the guys took the stage last night (October 16) with Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen to perform his 1978 song “Stiff Competition.”

Drummer Taylor Hawkins even came out from behind the kit to take the lead vocals — Dave Grohl filled in for him. Hawkins wore an all white suit, nonetheless. Hard to compete with that.
