Eddie Vedder is using music for the greater good.
The Pearl Jam guitarist has recorded a cover of John Lennon‘s anti-war 1971 classic “Imagine” for Heartbeat.fm, which seeks social change between Israel and Palestine by uniting musicians from both cultures.
Vedder covered the track back in July at a solo show in Portugal, where he called it “the most powerful song ever written.” That was only shortly after he spoke out about the Israel-Palestine conflict saying at a Pearl Jam concert in London: “I swear to f**king God, there are people out there who are looking for a reason to kill! They’re looking for a reason to go across borders and take over land that doesn’t belong to them. They should get the fuck out and mind their own fucking business.”
The song is available to download on iTunes, with an embeddable version available below.[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wv9PpUMnuig&w=620&h=349]
