Single? You might be alone, but you’re not alone. A Bloomberg study (via Citylab) says statistics indicate that over half of Americans over the age of 16-years-old are single. No matter what your Facebook feed is making you believe.
More people are single than not in over half of the states. Louisiana tops the list with 55.7% of people being single (perpetual Mardi Gras?), while California comes in tied with Florida, Massachusetts, and Nevada at 53.5%
Most singles are in college towns, while they also construct over half the population in major US cities.
The Top Five Most Single Cities? New Orleans at 58.0%, Memphis at 57.7%, Miami at 56.7%, Los Angeles at 55.8%, and Buffalo at 55.1%.
The study says its not a big city thing. San Francisco, Boston, and Chicago don’t make the Top 10. New York barely pushes in at Number 9.
So why are so many more people in Los Angeles single? Maybe it’s because we’re also apparently one of the “least friendly” cities. Oh, Los Angeles.
