Of the $30,000 he needs by Aug. 23, Sanchez has already secured over $13,000.
This all started when Sanchez came across Loggins’ Kickstarter campaign for his new album. When Sanchez discovered that for $25,000 donation Loggins’ band, The Blue Sky Riders, would play someone’s living room, Sanchez launched his own Kickstarter to pay for for Loggins’ Kickstarter.
Yes, it’s all very meta.
Probably best known for his 80s hits “Danger Zone” and “Footloose,” Loggins has shown surprising interest in Sanchez’s efforts. In phone call with Kevin & Bean this morning (listen below), Sanchez explained that Loggins has actually ponied up $500 to buy a seat in the Washington, D.C., resident’s living room. In other words, Loggins is funding his own Kickstarter campaign while helping Sanchez.
While $20 will grant you access to the live stream, $300 would have secured a seat in Sanchez’s living room, had all the seats not sold out after a recent Jimmy Kimmel Live! appearance.
“I like to say that our backers have pretty much met us halfway because we’re almost at $15,000 with almost 100 backers and I still have two weeks,” said Sanchez. “I feel really confident that we’ll make my living room the Danger Zone and cross streets will be the highway leading to it.”
On Sanchez’s page, he explains why fans should contribute — “You’ll hear some old and new hits, but I need some cash to make this happen. If you’re looking to make a dream come true, put your money where your ears are and drop some cash. Don’t do it for me. Don’t do it for Kenny, Georgia, and Gary. Do it for America.”Comments
