LA Galaxy and US soccer star Landon Donovan called in to The Kevin & Bean Show yesterday (6/19) to talk the ongoing FIFA World Cup, currently taking place in Brazil.
When asked how he’s been adjusting to his new role as commentator for this year’s World Cup, Donovan said, “I honestly had no idea….when you watch a bunch of your teammates and friends, when you watch your country and you realize what’s going on back home during all of this, honestly it’s just draining emotionally.”
After Kevin displayed his frustration with US coach Jürgen Klinsmann for not selecting Donovan for this year’s squad, he replied in a truly professional manner.
“I get that same comment from a lot of people including family members and friends. The reality is that it is what it is. I could complain and moan about it all I want, but I chose the path that ‘that’s life.’ Most of my career I’ve had all these kind of decisions go my way and it’s not the worst thing in the world to have something go against you.”
“I’ve learned from it, I’ve grown from it. Obviously I wish i was there, of course, but the reality is the reality and you just get on with it. It’s part of life.”
