Yes Avicii is the biggest DJ on our planet.
Yes Avicii headlined KROQ Weenie Roast 2014 and KILLED it.
NO Avicii is not the vocalist on his new song “Addicted To You” that you hear on KROQ- but Audra Mae IS.
I met up with singer/songwriter Audra Mae last Saturday at the KROQ Weenie Roast and found out a LOT of interesting things about her…
“Avicii is changing EDM” she said. “I was at Ultrafest in Miami with him and at one point, he added in live musicians and vocalists. It completely polarized over 65,000 people but he didn’t care. He’s fearless and that’s why he’s the one the world wants to see.”
Audra Mae is from Edmond, Oklahoma and has been in Los Angeles for 10 years. She has written songs for huge artists like Celene Dion, Miranda Lambert, and in 2009 she wrote the lyrics to “Who I Was Born to Be,” the only original track on Susan Boyle’s chart-topping, 9 million-selling “I Dreamed a Dream” album.
And while you’ll probably never hear those artists on KROQ (unless Kevin & Bean decide to have a singalong) it’s proof of just how versatile Audra Mae is.
And I haven’t even STARTED talking about her voice! You’ve heard “Addicted To You” on KROQ. The first time I played it, I thought “is that Adele?” Then a few KROQ Listeners called and asked the same thing.
Filter said “Audra Mae brings to mind a whole host of Hall of Famers every time she opens her mouth on The Almighty Sound”- her last album which she also co-produced.
She will also have vocals featured on three new All-American Reject songs for their latest project while she gets to work on her third album.
One more thing- she’s way cool.
