Birds of Tokyo came together with Ernie Ball for an exclusive performance of their hit single “Lanterns.” Part of the Set Me Up session, the clip was filmed in Los Angeles and the producers talked to Birds of Tokyo about how they create their signature sound and what sort of instruments they use.
Birds of Tokyo’s self-taught guitarist Adam Spark explains in the clip that his guitar sounds aren’t necessarily “earth-shatteringly relevant” and he may not be the best guitarist, but he doesn’t really care about all that. For Spark, “it’s all about texture and vibe.”
“‘Lanterns’ deals with the idea that uncertainty is O.K. Our future is not immutable and so we all do our best to hold an illuminated hand as we stroll or stumble forward down the evening path,” said Spark to us in an e-mail.”Be overwhelmed, lost, excited, scared, hopeful … all at once.”
