Frontwoman of Against Me!, Laura Jane Grace, will now star in a new reality series for AOL, following her journey through her transition into becoming a woman, and also on the band’s tour for their new album, Transgender Dysphoria Blues. The series, entitled, So Much More, will debut later this year as part of the new programming on AOL’s On Network.
Grace, who went public with her decision to transform her life as a woman almost two years ago, has been very open throughout her journey, allowing for greater understanding and awareness to both fans and the transgender community.
In an interview earlier this year with Kevin & Bean, Grace discussed her openness to the public, saying, “I feel like I didn’t really have an option also, to not come out and fully embrace it,” she explained. “That would have been more detrimental to start to transition without being open that I was transitioning. People would have probably been more homophobic or transphobic if they had seen signs.”
The series will also follow Grace as she meets with other members of the transgender community, and hear their stories.
In the trailer for the new AOL series, Grace says, “Hearing their stories, and then being able to relate myself to it, is what I need right now.” She continues on her reasoning behind doing the series, saying, “I just wanna make a connection, you know? I mean, there’s selfish reasons for that, of like not wanting to feel alone in the world, but that’s what I hope it gives the other people too.”
