In Franz Ferdinand‘s moody new video for “Fresh Strawberries,” frontman Alex Kapranos walks slowly (and repeatedly) through a mundane black-and-white scene. Quietly highlighting some seemingly boring, average moments, the visuals for “Fresh Strawberries” plays up on the song’s existential lyrics.

Everyone keeps pacing, waiting for something, anything to happen. It does, but it’s not exactly what you expect. There are no happy endings here.

“Fresh Strawberries” is off Franz Ferdinand’s latest album, Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action and the song is being released as a single with a German-sung B-side.

It should have been Swedish because thematically it reminds us a lot of Ingmar Bergman’s Wild Strawberries. Watch above.
