Almost Acoustic Christmas: Photos, recaps, interviews, and more!

AFI made their return to the stage after 3 long years to a jam-packed crowd last night at The Troubadour in West Hollywood. Their new forthcoming album Burials is set to release October 22nd, their first since 2009’s Crash Love.

The band tore through plenty of radio hits, opening with “The Leaving Song Pt. II” then heading into songs like “Girl’s Not Grey,” “Miss Murder,” and “Silver And Cold.” They also catered to die-hard fans hoping to hear songs from the band’s Nitro Records years, performing older tracks like “A Single Second,” “God Called In Sick Today” and “Totalimmortal,” among several others.

Fans were treated to the first-ever live performances of the new tracks “I Hope You Suffer” and “17 Crimes,” which both were received well by the crowd. Front man Davey Havok was as animated as ever, jumping off risers and front-flipping into the crowd, while guitarist Jade Puget and bassist Hunter Burgan were constantly running back and forth across the stage.

The set even included a cover of The Cure‘s “Just Like Heaven,” which was squeezed into the middle of their performance and allowed the rowdy fans a moment to collect themselves. The band left the stage after performing “Totalimmortal,” but came back out for their first encore to play “The Days Of The Phoenix” and “Silver And Cold.”

After leaving the stage again, the crowd began chanting “through our bleeding we are one” – a typical occurrence at their shows – which prompted AFI to return for a second encore of “Dancing Through Sunday.”

The band is getting ready to kick off their nation-wide Burials tour, which features sold out shows at the Fonda on Oct. 22nd (the album release date) and the Fox Theatre Pomona on Oct. 25th. Pre-order Burials from iTunes here.
