Almost Acoustic Christmas: Photos, recaps, interviews, and more!

The video game expo E3 is currently going on at the LA Convention Center, and like Comic-Con, just gets bigger every year.

According to Adam Sessler, this year is especially big because of  the announcement of two new consoles: Microsoft’s Xbox One, and Sony’s Playstation 4. Each unveiling had a complete opposite reaction from gamers, and Sessler was able to break  down each system for us.

Xbox One: Adam Sessler says Microsoft’s main goal is make “more than just a gaming system,” and is impressed with the voice recognition and command system through Kinect that you can use to watch TV.

However, this console has been met with more negative feedback than positive, and  Adam points to even the unfortunate choice  by the marketing department to use “#xbone” as the twitter hashtag.

The main negative aspect points to DRM (Digital Rights Management),  which requires an internet connection that checks every 24 hours to make sure there are no pirated games on the system.  That also means  death to used games, making it hard to play a second-hand game, or sell it to a retailer like Game Stop.

The system will retail for $499, and as Adam states truthfully, “they have not made a great case” to attract gamers. Because Microsoft was the dominant player in the current generation, Adam believes they may have gotten “a bit too cocky,” which caused the missteps.

Playstation 4: Sony has not made a secret of their “gleeful” contradiction to Microsoft’s announcement of XBox One, and  Adam Sessler said he’s never seen such “bold and ballsy play” before. For instance, there will be no problems with playing used games:

The new system also will not require an constant internet connection like XBox One. And at $399, one hundred bucks cheaper!

Look for KROQ hanging out at E3 this week!
