Thom Yorke Ready For Dancing With The Stars?

In the first music video to accompany the new Atoms for Peace album Amok, Thom Yorke gives his dancing a whole new twist; He takes on a partner.

In “Ingenue,” the Radiohead frontman expresses his carefree nature, appearing to be lost in the music. With ballerina-like precision, Yorke begins alone upon a massive stage, facing a theater with an absent audience. At the video’s onset, Yorke’s dancing is intercut with a similarly dressed woman. Wearing matching tan business suits, Yorke and dancer Fukiko Takase split from one indistinguishable unit into two, working their way into an explosive routine only to become one again in the end, all choreographed by the Royal Ballet’s resident choreographer Wayne McGregor.

Although fans have long enjoyed Yorke’s moves during live concerts, it wasn’t until Radiohead’s 2011 video for “Lotus Flower” that Yorke’s moves were popularized, and parodied. Within hours of its posting, countless parodies and comedic remixes were uploaded to YouTube. Yorke’s dancing was set against music like Beyone’s “Single Ladies,” Abba’s “Dancing Queen,” and Michael Sembello’s infamous Flashdance tune, “Maniac.

Dancing solo was one thing. But now that Yorke has shown his willingness to take on a partner, there’s only logical move left to make: Dancing with the Stars.
