Almost Acoustic Christmas: Photos, recaps, interviews, and more!

Some of the fastest competitors at the X Games are typically the RallyCross racers, who tear through a mixture of street and dirt courses. Once again, a stellar lineup of athletes are set to participate, including skateboarder Bucky Lasek, who will be making his RallyCross debut this year.

This year the folks at X Games added a little surprise – the Hot Wheels Double Loop Dare – which will feature two drivers hitting a 6-story double vertical loop and and attempting to break a world record! You gotta see the video below to understand how crazy what they’re attempting to do really is.

On Saturday, June 30th, drivers in a Hot Wheels double loop at X Games Los Angeles 2012 will attempt to break a world record for racing two vehicles through a six-story double vertical loop. Two drivers will accelerate to 52 mph, enter a 66-foot tall loop and hit seven times normal gravity as they drive through the loop.

X Games RallyCross competitor and two-time Formula Drift champion Tanner Foust will comprise Team Yellow, and Hollywood stunt driver Greg Tracy will be Team Green.

To create the loop, experts spent countless hours researching and testing the right vehicles, conducting G-force testing, and other design, modeling and analysis.

The feat will be broadcast nationally on ABC and globally on ESPN’s international networks. You can tune in 11:20 a.m. PT June 30 on ABC, or come down and watch it live beginning at 11am.

The fastest event at the X Games returns for a seventh straight year. Rally Car Racing features drivers racing street-legal cars on closed sections of roads called “stages.” The goal in Rally is to accumulate the lowest elapsed driving time on a prescribed course.
