Almost Acoustic Christmas: Photos, recaps, interviews, and more!

London-based indie-folk quartet Mumford and Sons haven’t released a new album since 2009’s Sigh No More, but they’ve still been busy. The band recently put out a documentary called Big Easy Express about their Railroad Revival Tour with Old Crow Medicine Show and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes; they also performed for President Obama in March.

In between touring, promoting their documentary, playing for world leaders, and getting married, Mumford and Sons have been working on a new album, promised to be an “evolution, not revolution,” which keyboard player Ben Lovett confessed that the band is “done recording.”

“But if we listen back while we’re mixing and discover it’s sh*t, we’ll just start again,” Lovett continued. “We’re not going to put it out until it’s good enough.”

In an interview with MTV last year, frontman Marcus Mumford also said the band would “keep going until it’s right” and that one way they test out songs is playing them live.

“We don’t really like to put any boundaries on it; we’ll keep going until it’s right,” Mumford said. “It’s definitely a different experience from the first one, as it should be, I think. But it’s been challenging in all the right ways. It’s going well.

“I think we just want the songs to be good, and to sound right, and to feel like we’ve expressed everything as straightforwardly and honestly as we can,” he continued. “And we’re working towards that.”

“When you play it to a new room, you’re playing it to new ears,” Mumford said about playing new songs live. “And you’re listening to the song through their ears. So it’s a really great way to feel the song out.”!/MumfordOfficial/status/70345838995587072
