Courtney Love Debuts New York Art Exhibit, Claims It’s A “Kurt-Free Zone”

Courtney Love apparently has no “off switch.” When she’s not busy dealing with attorneys, on a Twitter rant or reuniting with Hole, she’s painting. Yes, painting. According to the rocker, her mother always wanted her to be an artist.

Love will open her first exhibit in New York City this week. The Fred Torres Collaborations gallery will host her collection of more than 45 pieces of art, drawn in various mediums including pencil, pastel and watercolor.

“It’s really a Kurt-free zone,” Love told The Huffington Post. “A lot of this collection is about one romance,” Love said, not taking the bait when asked which one.

According to Love, the paintings started as tributes to her girl crushes but then had a “breakthrough” and started to create paintings from her past, utilizing memories from her life… “Mostly memories about a few different romances,” explains Love. In a home video shot by Mandy Stadtmiller, Love thank one man, who remains nameless, for messing with her one night. Although the one-night stand really messed her up, it gave her the “inspiration for some great art.”

“I don’t know when I’ll do this again,” she said. “[But] if this works with me, there are gonna be a whole lot of other ones.”

Love’s gallery showing runs from May 3-June 15. For more on the exhibit, visit Fred Torres Collaborations.
